What is a Bypass Module? A bypass module is a piece of hardware that allows the remote starter to mimic your vehicle’s key. This means, you can remote start your vehicle without disabling any of your vehicle’s features.

We all love remote starters. On a cold winter day, stepping outside to a fully defrosted and warm vehicle feels like magic. Several pieces of hardware make this magic possible. Aside from the Remote Starts control module itself, the most important piece of hardware is this BLADE-AL Bypass Module.

A Brief History of Remote Start & Immobilizers

A bypass module is what makes modern remote start possible. You see, since the year 2000, many vehicles were equipped with immobilizers. This device does wonders for vehicle security and theft prevention. However, they make the roles of remote start installers and manufacturers more complex. In short, the immobilizer prevents the engine from starting without a key; making the car less vulnerable to theft. In most cases, an immobilizer consists of two devices: a receiver installed in the vehicle and a transponder chip in the car key. The transponder chip emits a unique signal that it sends to the antenna which is communicated to the vehicle’s computer. If the computer recognizes the signal, then it allows the vehicle to start and continue running. This Idatalink ADS-ALCA data bypass module communicates operating commands from a compatible remote start/security system controller to your vehicle's onboard computer system to enable direct control over your vehicle's functionality.

* Programming Note: Idatalink ADS-WLM-AN1 Android Weblink Mobile, ADS-WLM-AP1 IOS Weblink Mobile or ADS-USB is required for web-programming and sold separately. Additional accessories may be required and sold separately. ** Professional installation is highly recommended.

IdataLink ADS-ALCA Universal Multi-Platform Immobilizer Bypass

A bypass module is a piece of hardware that allows the remote starter to mimic your vehicle’s key.

When immobilizers were introduced, aftermarket remote starters had to be installed alongside one of your expensive vehicle keys, or the factory security features had to be disabled entirely. Then came the bypass module to bring back the magic of keyless entry and remote start.

Remember the unique signal emitted by the transponder chip we mentioned earlier? Well, when the dealer installs your remote car starter, they program the bypass module with your vehicle’s key. This way, the bypass module will emit the same unique signal as the transponder chip in your car key.

One of the most impressive aspects of the bypass module is that it allows you to maintain all of the original factory security features of your vehicle. Since the device emits the transponder’s signal, there’s no need to disconnect any of the factory anti-theft features to make the remote starter work.

So you see, this Idatalink ADS-ALCA bypass module acts as the middle man between your remote start and the vehicle’s computer. This simple, yet powerful piece of hardware makes seamless remote start possible on modern cars, without sacrificing the factory security of your vehicle.

What Hardware Do Compustar Remote Starters Use?

Compustar remote starters are compatible with bypass modules made by Idatalink, like the Blade-AL, Blade-TB and the ADS-ALCA (pictured above). Compustar has maintained a close partnership with Idatalink for many years, and continue to rely on their state-of-the-art hardware to make our remote starters better than ever! The type of bypass module installed with your system depends on a couple of factors: your vehicle make, model, the type of system, and your installer. Before having your system installed, ask your Authorized Compustar Dealer about the type of hardware they plan to use to learn more. If your vehicle was manufactured after the year 2000 and your key has a transponder, then YES you do need a bypass module for remote start. If you’re not sure if your vehicle falls into this category (and it likely does) don’s worry, your installer will be able to advise you. Bypass modules are truly fascinating pieces of hardware that make modern remote starters possible! If you’re looking for the best remote starter in the industry, look no further than Compustar. Their award-winning systems are reliable and powerful.

Product was easy to install and worked exactly as described, software was easy to download, as were the wiring instructions and installation directions. If you are a first time installer, do your home work, there are many resources out there with helpful tips and warnings to save you from making costly mistakes. I spent 6-8 hours of research before I started removing any of the access panels on my wife's SUV. Put together a binder with step by step instructions, highlight those steps that apply to your application, and make notes. I had a binder with over 55 pages of illustrations and notes, includiong a step by step I put together for my application. These are just suggestions, I am not claiming to be an expert by any means, but they were helpful to me, and installing this databus bypass transponder in conjunction with the Compustar CS800-S, I did not have one issue and everyting worked correctly the first time with all safety features and functions working as designed. I only needed one key to program the Idatalink using the KLON installation. Both the 12volt.com and Commando car alarms-vehicle wiring search websites offer free diagrams and step by step, wire to wire connections for most automobile applicatons. I am tankful that these websites take the time to offer to help the DIY'ers. As you will no doubt see numerous times with this databus bypass by IDatalink, do not forget, you will need to purchase the IDatalink Weblink Updater harness that will connect the module to your PC via USB port to download the particular software applicaiton you will need.

Worked great on my 2006 Saturn Vue. I used this idatalink ALCA databus with a Compustar CS800-S remote start system and it works with no problem. All the connections to my ignition switch were fairly easy to get to and I soldered them all and double taped them too. Took me about 4 hours to install it because I triple checked every connection via the paper instructions and on the internet at their websites. I took my time because I did not want to short anything out. If I did it again It would be half the time.

Do your research!I'm a DIYer, not scared. Not impossible. I know dc circuitry. If you have a clue, no problem then. If this is your first time cutting a wire in a vehicle, I wouldn't suggest proceeding with this. Will need a dongle to flash to your specific vehicle. So count on buying that too. Also idata document #77704 type 4 wiring, there is a flaw having the key sense and relayed key lock on the same circuit. The relay kick backs current into the circuit and confuses the status input of the bypass causing it not to start sometimes and setting off the factory alarm. The diodes in the diagram do nothing to help this being the current flow is in the wrong direction of the placed diode. Use r/s' status output for the diodes key sense and the r/s' rear defogger for the dioded and relayed key lock circuit.Took me awhile to figure out what was going on.Good luck!

This worked perfectly, but you need to have it flashed for your particular vehicle.Alarm and stereo shops can do this, but most of them charge for it.There is information on the internet and youtube on how to do this yourself, but it does require purchasing an adapter cable from the USB port of your computer. Lookup Lessco. It would have been nice to know this ebfore spending several hours checking and rechecking all my wiring. After it was flashed it worked like a charm.Super easy install

It’s takes some time. But once you understand how to program these and install them via D2D port or r322 cable- life is so much better. I be been using them for over 5 years now and as a professional installer- they’re my goto for most vehicles

Good module. This works in practically every car on the market. It is a data bypass so it needs a key to initially program it but not one to keep inside it. Buy it here on Amazon as other places will charge you $90 for it.FYI, You need this to bypass the immobilizer in modern cars that use transponder chips in the keys or fobs to start the car. This will replicate the transponder encryption so that you can install a remote starter or whatever in your car.

This product is not consistent. It was working fine for a couple of days but then all of sudden it stop responding to my remote start keys. It doesnt work when its too cold, I'm in Alaska and its only 20 degrees not even below zero. After reading from past buyers reviews I found and learn about the issues why my remote start dont work. Its unfortunate I cant return anymore coz its a hassle taking it out since its installed already. I want a replacement!!! I don't recommend this product.
