The key in my niece's 2007 Honda Accord would not turn. We pulled out the old assembly, we got quotes from 3 auto parts stores...$390, $465, and $585! Plus we would need to order with a 2 day time frame. (We did this on a Saturday). I found this on Amazon, it was delivered in 2 days. All I wanted was the metal part. I swapped out the electronics from the key end and installed the new assembly in the car. I dug the chip out of her old key and put it in one of the new keys and she is good to go! The dealer would have charged almost $800, plus we would to have the car towed there because we could not unlock the steering wheel. So a few hours of my time, and about $60 later she is back on the road.

I ordered this product for our 2005 Honda Accord with 175,000 miles. I began having problems getting the keys to insert about 6 months prior. Here are the limitations of this product.1. My package came with ZERO instructions, and no link to instructions. You can find adequate related videos to assist you through this learning journey & process.2. The new Keys shipped with the product will not work with your door lock or trunk lock. Keep your old Keys.3. The new Keys that shipped with the product will not activate the ignition due to the Engine Immobilizer technology in the vehicle's ignition system. Users have to remove the chip that bypasses the Engine Immobilizer, from the original key(s) and place it into the compartment in the new Key(s). This technology works much like Access Control systems utilizing Proximity key cards to allow individual access to secured buildings.4. The new Keys that shipped with the product do not have a Key Fob integrated into them. These keys are similar to the "valet" key that most new owners received at the time of purchasing the vehicle new from the dealer. I did not know this before my purchase. At this point in the process, you would always have to carry 2 keys to operate your vehicle; one key to unlock the doors and a second key to start the engine. I was able to MacGyver a workaround by removing the key blade from the new key and swapping it to the old (and nearly broken) key FOB, now held together with wire. For my wife I wanted a better solution, so I did the following:1. I ordered on Amazon, a set of 2 integrated "KeylessOption Keyless Entry Remote Control Uncut Car Ignition Key Fob Replacement for OUCG8D-380H-A (Pack of 2)" . These cost $19.95 and are nearly identicle to the ones from the dealer but do not have the Honda logo on them.2. I took one of the 2 to a hardware store that does key cutting and had them cut one to match the key that was included with this "Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Assembly". The key cutting was $25 plus tax.3. I then removed the immobilized chip from the original key fob and placed it in the new key fob.4. Finally, I re-programmed the new key fob to lock and unlock the doors and unlock the trunk. The key fobs came with instructions for this process. What I ended up with is not perfect and cost around $125.00 plus about 5 hours of my time. If I wanted to replace the door and trunk locks to match the ignition, it would probably be another $200 to $500. as this is a process with a level of involvement that I don't care to embark on by myself at this time.Based on rough calculations of some dealer parts and labor, I would probably be looking at $500 to $1,000, to have the whole repair done and have matching keys cut for the door, ignition & trunk. If this seller or another had a similar option that included a set of Key/Fobs with blades cut to match the new ignition, that would have been a better option for me as I could have saved $50 in key-cutting charges. Based on all this and no better option, I would probably purchase this product again.
