I've seen some troublesome reviews on this product like a broken filter to pump housing that shouldn't happen with a pressure-rated plastic structure; however, at the time of this posting I had my old pump motor break down and I'm glad I had this one on hand. Basically, It takes the same orientation as my original pump so replumbing is not too bad. The construction looks good as you would expect, but the one photo another reviewer posted shows the filter to pump portion broken out like a cheap plastic and not reinforced; this gives me some concern if I'm away and this were to break it would not be good.I'll give it some time and see how it performs. Typically, in the salt-air environment where I live, I get 5 years out of the pump motor with a bearing swap in the middle and a few shaft seals. I've been using the same pump housing with a new impeller for almost 10 years now. So I'll test the unit for longevity of the pump motor and the pump housing. and update my review according to the performance of each.

I was really please when I received this pump and saw that it is truly a well designed and built pump. Most pumps make claims on quality and construction build and don't live up to expectations. I needed to replace a pump on my 1500 gallon pond and when I saw the price was now $500, second one I've had, I had to find a suitable replacement that was a better value. The pump I was using was originally about $250 dollars and did last about 10 years or so. That same pump was now $500. I have large inlets and outlets on my pond, 2" and 1.5", and was having trouble finding something that met those requirements. When I first saw this pump it appeared to be what I needed, but there were no specs on the sizes of inlet and outlet. I was pleased to find out that the pump came with fittings that would accommodate both 2" and 1.5" PVC connections. This was perfect for my needs. For those that are curious the openings are 2 3/8" ID WITHOUT the couplings. They include two PVC couplers that attach via a screw on collar. One for 2" PVC pipe and one for 1.5" PVC pipe. There is a pre-filter basket at the inlet end prior to water entering the chamber with the impeller. This protects debris from getting into the impeller. I have not yet calculated the flow, but it pumps a ton of water. I am pumping through a 30 gallon biofilter and then through a 40 watt UV sterilizer at about a 3 foot head before returning back to the pond. The water is drawn from the bottom of my pond which is approx. 4 ft deep through a filter basket and then into the pumps basket as well. This pump has saved me over $300 and performs as well as my old pump. If it lasts as long as the last one I will be extremely happy. 5 star product all the way.

This pump is powerful and a bit bigger than what we needed it for. Our swim spa had one of the pumps go out sodid not offer enough resistance with just one pump running to be able to exercise. We added this pump with a little maneuvering, to the swim spa, and it gave us the resistance needed to exercise in the spa again. The pump is well made and is heavy. It works well for our needs and we definitely would get it again!

This is a well-built pump which I tested for using in my pool, the build quality is plastic. however, it seems to be of higher grade. It includes the NPT connectors for both suction end and the return and is easy to wire since it includes the cord, so you don't even have to remove the end cap to get to the terminals. I am taking two stars off due to limitations it presents if you have a spa or heater installed, as I do. It has an operating temperature limit of 95 degrees Fahrenheit. however, most water temperature for spas and heaters is around 100-104 degrees. If you are not concerned with the running temp limit this is a reasonably priced pump.

Well made, great power, not too noisy:This pool pump is well constructed and feels very well made overall - the materials feel like they're durable and well connected. Once hooked up, the suction power of this unit is great - just as expected based on the product specs provided. This can comfortably handle the flow of an average sized above ground pool - and is relatively simple to operate. The unit is also surprisingly quiet despite its powerful flow, and I was pleased to see I won't have to worry about it keeping me up at night or annoying us while relaxing on the patio.Overall, this is a nice pump and I would recommend.
