How does it work?
When your hand gets closed to the sensor, the switch toggles its state (it turns on if the current state is off, or vice versa). The sensor will have ~1 second hold off time after the state is changed. During the hold off time, the switch keeps the current state and sensor won't do any detection until either the hold off time is passed or your hand moves away. If the hold off time is passed but your hand is still on the sensor, the switch will toggle its state again.
* So how about if something keep staying on the sensor? Will the light keep On and Off?
Yes, It will. But the IR sensor will only turn On and Off few times and then will go to sleep mode. We purposely added this protective logic in the switch for safety. To resume it, just simply move the blocking-object away. The switch will back to normal.

I use this with a 12v RV type pump to turn on/off the pump without having to touch anything. In many respects, this is much better than a traditional faucet device where you physically have to turn a handle to operate water flow. This switch ONLY turns the pump on/off though -- you still need to have a way to regulate flow RATE (I use a PWM controller for that -- it speeds up/slows down the pump depending on what flow rate I require). Once you get used to this type of control, you'll never go back to a regular faucet control. Note that while this is IR the actuation mechanism is magnetic so don't have a magnet near the switch or it won't work. A minor point that I found out the hard way. I use this for all sink faucet use (kitchen/bathroom) and also shower (just wave my hand over the switch to turn on/off the water to the shower -- don't even have to look for the switch but just know approximate location since the distance to activate the switch is almost a foot). This allows faucet action not much different from expensive commercial units that sense hand proximity -- this is just a lot cheaper and if you have an RV (which is how I use it) it's almost indispensable, especially if you're boondocking and need to really watch water use.

Be advised that this devise is only operates within a range of 5". The lifespan of this switch was only a few hours. When it was functional, the power flucuated on and off within 20 minutes of use.

Things to think about:- it's not a dimmer (remember the "iTouch"?) it's just an on/off switch- If the background light is too bright (think, sunlight reflecting off a countertop), the switch does not work properly.- I'm having trouble learning how/when it detects movement. It seems to change on/off state unpredictably. Sometimes it triggers when you walk by, sometimes not. Maybe it's an aiming issue? Need to learn more.All that said, when it works right, under the right conditions, its great.

Used it for LED light I have installed behind my bathroom mirror.Contactless is great. Just wave of your hand in front to turn on and off.No dimmer but not a big loss.

Modified this switch for hands free under-cabinet lights, had to cut and solder power cables and it worked. Tried/failed in 5vdc application must use 12vdc or 24vdc
