About this item

  • Easily add durable metal threads to your parts
  • Eliminates clumsy "captive nuts" that fall out too easily
  • Create more polished, professional products
  • Corrosion resistant

Tapered threaded brass inserts for 3D Printing
Easy to set in an appropriately-sized hole in the part using a soldering iron. Numerous vanes and ridges around the insert allow plastic to flow between them, creating a tough bond with the printed part.
This is a much more versatile, durable, professional, and attractive solution than "captive nuts" and other solutions commonly employed when the need for metal threads in printed parts arises.
One primary advantage these provide is the ability to design and print assemblies in multiple component pieces that attach with metal fasteners. This means that you can create products larger than the print volume your printer supports, and that failed prints often result in less waste due to only one part of a larger assembly failing. This also typically results in more "polished", professional-looking designs.

  • Thread Pitch: #10-24 or #10-32 depending on selection
  • OAL: .225"
  • Recommended size of hole: .277 tapering down to .265"

I use these to make a spring nut installer. An inch and a quarter 10-32 screw is used for this. Screw three of them on and put on the spring nut, tighten the inserts against the nut and each other and you have an installer. If I need more, I'll be reordering.

Needed an appropriate tip on my soldering iron but with that and a few seconds per insert, they slipped right into a thick UHMW block and locked in nicely. Gave a nice professional finish on a small DIY project. I wasn't able to provide the tapered hole as recommended, but the suggestion of a size H drill bit worked perfectly.

They work great! I drilled the main size, then beveled the top of the hole one size higher, and used a 40 watt Weller soldering iron to heat and place them. Makes an incredibly strong mounting point.

Excellent fit to tolerance. Easy to install with a soldering iron over 40watts. Be sure that your bore sizes are right when printed, and they'll install very easily and clean.

Wanted #10-32 but it doesn't seem to be an option. Otherwise fine stuff.

Bag says 10-24 and 10-32 but I only got two types of 10-24. This was fine as I only needed 10-24

I used for a plastic headlight lens on my tractor…fit perfect and allowed me thread in the screws to secure to it! Worked great!
