There is a little wood rod that holds the scale in place. It doesn’t screw in or anything so my 3 yr old kept taking it out and I had to keep hunting it down. That piece is also a bit of a choking hazard. Also, the scale is so sensitive that you have to add a peg to each side at the same time. If you place a peg person on just one side of the scale it will slam down and the peg flies off. We are only using it fully supervised for small things right now, like counting dry beans. I would opt for a less aesthetic bucket scale if I were you. I threw away the box after opening like a dummy so I can’t return it.
