I work as a general contractor in the Pacific Northwest. Outside all day and almost always wet, cold and muddy. After decades of trying work boots that not only can take the wear and tear but also provide awesome support (I broke both feet bones in an ATV accident), they are always dry and warm AND they good great! These boots aren’t cheap, but they’re made in USofA and I only need one pair a year. They are more comfortable than a comparable pair of expensive European hiking boots. I now have a new pair in my closet all the time.

I am a construction professional and RedWing consumer who is trying Irish Setter (also by RedWing) for the first time. I have had these boots for over a month, and I have to tell you I was initially skeptical that these boots would have the same comfort, fit and build quality as my trusty four-year-old RedWing (non Irish Setter) boots when I got them new. Let me tell you, these boots are COMFORTABLE, are true to size and are made to the same standards as my old RedWing boots that were about twice the price at the time I got them. Now, I did get these Irish Setters from Amazon on sale (which was about $60 cheaper than buying direct from RedWing), but these are every bit as good as my $300 RedWing boots and I expect to get the same life from them. A bonus was these boots took virtually no time to break-in, while my old RedWings took about a week or so.A word of caution: My boots arrived MUCH darker than the medium brown shown in the photo. They actually appeared to be black fresh out of the box. However, they were wrapped in wax paper (nice touch) to keep the oil treatment received at the factory from bleeding through the box. Over the past few weeks, they have lightened in color to a dark chocolate (which, oddly enough was the color I really wanted in other boots I were considering). I anticipate they will lighten another shade or two before settling into their final color; but if yours turn out like mine, they will NOT be the medium brown shown.All-in-all, this discerning consumer believes this is an excellent boot that will get years of wear. If not, I will be certain to provide an update to this review.

For a couple of years now, I've been looking for the perfect pair of boots. I've used Timberland, Asolo, Muck, Kamik and now this awesome Irish Setter 878 Trailblazer. I think I've finally found the perfect pair. It is comfortable, requires very little break-in period(1 hour trail walk), and great traction in the snow. I'd still recommend a yaktrax or similar for icy condition. It kept me warm despite temp in single digits. I'd say it's perfect cold fall or winter season. It will be a little warm for summer hikes. It is waterproof! It's a handsome enough for casual wear but rugged enough to take on some serious hike. Leather quality and stitching are top notch.I wear a 2EE and ordered one and it is perfect. I'd say it's true to size. Highly recommended.Again, Amazon delivered!

This is a great boot - well made, oiled, water proof, sewn soles, excellent ankle support, etc., but they are a little too small. I took extra care when ordering according to all others' reviews to ensure I ordered the correct size, but they arrived too small. Recommendation, order at least an extra 1/2 size than you might think is correct. If you get the right size, you'll have these boots for years and can easily be used on a daily basis. I've seen a lot of boots over the years and these are some of the best for the price you'll find anywhere.UPDATE: The size 10 fits just right and with a little wearing/breaking in they'll feel very comfortable all day and will conform to the foot just right. The boots are a little stiff when you first get them, but after a hour or so, they were starting to break in nicely. THIS IS A VERY SOLID BOOT AND WELL MADE BOOT.

I work as a grazing/mining/recreation manager for a state forest service. 5 mile hikes are common along creeks, brush, and extremely steep terrain. These boots hold up well to the task. The ankle support is great, fit is snug but not constricted, and stay dry. This boot is also great if you have flat feet.As for cons, they are a bit heavy and get hot quick in the heat.

My husband is a UPS driver and these are the 4th pair he’s purchased in 9 years. He swears by these boots to get him through a PA Winter

Prompt delivery, great quality boot. Breaking in seems relatively easy. I am doing 3km every morning and no issues with rubbing from day 1! I will update this review after the hunting season to let you know how it performed in the field.

the fit is good, but hiking I noticed a pain in my heel. Don't think I'll wear them out in the backwoods for a while and see if its actually the boots. There was a lot of up and down trails, and to be honest I was expecting better performance from these boots. Maybe short hikes they'll be ok, but for longer day hikes I don't think I can recommend these.
