Jacob Alexander Men's Pocket Square
Pocket Square

A pocket square is a square cloth that fits snugly in the breast pocket of your jacket, providing a stylish hint of fabric peeking out to increase visual appeal. A pocket square is a low effort, subtle way to upgrade your outfit from "Typical" to ''Different".

POCKET SQUARE STYLE GUIDE:

Below is a handy pocket square guide when choosing your pocket square:

  • Choose a secondary color from your shirt or tie as the primary color for your pocket square
  • Don't overdo the patterns, ensure some articles of clothing are flat colors which will accentuate the colors in your pocket square or tie
  • Match your fold to the occasion.
  • White pocket square rules; for the most part, there are no rules. White pocket squares work with every jacket and tie combination and color.
Jacob Alexander Pocket Square Folds

5 Ways To Fold A Pocket Square

  1. Square Fold - also known as the presidential fold or TV fold pocket square, is the ultimate classic fold and should be your choice for a black-tie event.
  2. Triangle Fold - this fold can really make a point, which could be one of the reasons they call it the one-point fold or single-point fold as well. It can be a great way to add some color to your look; choose a pocket square that contrasts, but complements, the suit.
  3. Stairs Fold - if you're after something more challenging than the classic square fold or triangle fold, then this fold is just the thing. It requires some patience and dexterity, but the result is really worth the effort.
  4. Puff Fold - one of the most versatile and easy pocket square folds in this list. It is ideal for both casual and formal wear.
  5. Winged Puff - looks great with most fabric choices, and with the right styling combinations, it can be equally appropriate for both day and evening wear.

Pocket Square Designs

  1. Solid Color - Perfect for a classy yet conservative look and most preferred for business outfits, formal event wear, and even minimalist, casual styles.
  2. Small Repeating Print - offer a large degree of versatility. The pattern should not be too similar to that of the suit, shirt or tie.
  3. Large Repeating Print - typically best suited for casual suit wear. However, you can make use of such a design to spice up formal attire or a business suit, if you really want your outfit to pack a punch.
  4. Non-Repeating Print - covers a wide range of possibilities. By nature, these patterns often work best for casual attire.
  5. Paisley Pattern - well respected in formal menswear and the teardrop-like design has been around for centuries. The design is particularly complex, and so often works best with simple, solid-colored suits for contrast.
  6. Floral Pattern - patterns containing flowers are popular when it comes to pocket squares. Designs can vary hugely from abstract to realistic.

I purchased this pocket square for a wedding we were attending in Greece. As you can see in the pictures, this white pocket square looked great with my suit. It came nicely packaged and all I had to do was iron it a bit (thanks to my ocd) and it fit perfectly in my suit pocket. I’m for the price, the quality is perfect and I received lot of compliments. My girlfriend is a happy cryer so I’m usually having to give her my hanky to use and after numerous washes it’s still in great shape.

Very high quality linen material. My brother used this for his black tie formal Christmas party for his tuxedo and looked great. Can also be used with a regular suit.

Perfectly folded in the package if you intend to use it in your suit pocket, but I use it as a handkerchief is intended.Linen keeps crisply folded in the pocket and launders great, no shrinkage. Great to have on hand for a multitude of uses.

Let me say that I know nothing about handkerchiefs. I bought this one to clean with. I had been using what I think might have been my father's handkerchief. It was just the right size and thickness but it has holes in it now. This handkerchief is twice as large and a little thinner but it works great for what I need it for (I'm still sanitizing things with hydrogen peroxide). I've been using it for a few weeks and the hems are still okay. That was the first thing that went bad on the old handkerchief. I think the old handkerchief was linen and I thought this one was, too, but it isn't (as far as I can tell). That is why it is a bit thinner than the old handkerchief. But it is not real thin, just thinner than linen.

Very nice linen pocket square. To me, it looks to be hand rolled (not an expert on this though). Only complaint I have is that creases were VERY set-in to the fabric when taking it out of the package. If you like the fold pattern shown in the picture, you can pretty much take it out of package and insert directly into the coat pocket. However if you'd like a square (or any other) fold pattern, you're going to need to iron. Good news is that a hot iron with a little bit of water or steam took the creases out pretty easily.

Good materials and craftsmanship but it's too big for most pockets and creates a weird bulge sometimes.

A good linen pocket square and at a very reasonable price. Importantly, it is about the right size, most are far too small, and this is approx. 38 x 38 cm which is ideal as it should not disappear into a normal breast pocket and so need constant adjustment.
