I am a beginner (very beginner) so I may not have all the tricks down, but I found this to be a pretty solid product, all be it a little finicky. After the initial scuffing of the surface, it eventually wears smooth, and I found my self needing to scuff up the surface again to get it to apply to my bow. Once on, it’s very very smooth, and really does its job well, but it takes a lot more attention to detail, and application to get there. I’m not sure if it’s less dust than tradition rosin, but it does make a good amount of dust, which is easy to clean off after but still present. It can get a little unsightly after a couple of hours, with a bunch of white dust on your instrument, but it is easily wiped away with a cloth.

The best rosin ever! I borrowed some from a cello mate. It goes on smooth and really makes the bow glide. I could really see the difference between a quality rosin vs. what I was using. I liked it so much, I bought some for myself.

I was literally stunned at the difference this rosin made! Being a new violinist, I was quick to accept all blame for scratchiness and whistling ( Mostly from the 'E' string. But after carefully checking my technique and even upgrading the E string, I started to wonder about the rosin. I purchased from a reputable dealer and assumed they hadn't sent me out the door with garbage rosin. Furthermore, my old rosin gets good reviews. But I just had to try something better..So, based on the positive feedback about Jade, I decided to try it. When it arrived, I tried to use up all traces of the old rosin from my bow before applying the Jade. As soon as I started playing, it seemed my tone improved greatly and the bow had no problem grabbing any string and holding on. Strangely enough, though, the bow glides effortlessly while playing. It's super smooth and graceful! Also, the residue is much easier to remove from the strings and other parts after each session.For the quality and how long rosin lasts, I think Jade is an incredible bargain.

It applies to the bow very easily so a little goes a long way. There is little dust but sound is gritty even though very little rosin has been applied. This goes away after a while.

This rosin does create a little more dust than other rosins I have tried, but the grip and smooth sound that it helps produce is well worth the trade off.

This is my favorite rosin. It is fine and does not “shed†caking up the bow or dusting the violin. The packaging and dark green rosin cake are very appealing. It’s a joy to use!

Not only is the rosin itself beautiful, I can’t believe the difference when I play. Rich and lovely. I honestly had no idea a different rosin would affect the tone quality that much. I appreciate all of the good information everyone shared in their reviews. That is what caused me to decide to try it. Thanks for a wonderful product !
