Introducing the Hinoki Masu Sake Cups – a beautifully crafted set of two cups, each adorned with a traditional Japanese crests (Kamon) branded pattern. Kamon are heraldic symbols used in Japan to represent families, clans, or specific regions, and they often feature intricate designs with deep cultural and historical significance. Each crest is a reflection of identity, family heritage, or nobility, adding a layer of tradition and prestige to these sake cups. The Kamon design on this set brings a unique blend of elegance and heritage, elevating your sake experience with a rich connection to Japan's storied past. The Masu cups themselves have a long history in Japan. Originally designed as wooden boxes for measuring rice, they became an integral part of Japanese drinking culture. Over time, Masu evolved into a vessel used for serving sake during celebratory occasions, symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, and the joy of sharing drinks with loved ones. These cups continue to be a part of many traditional ceremonies, adding a touch of ceremonial elegance to any event. Crafted from Hinoki, Japanese Cypress, these Masu Sake Cups are as much a tribute to nature as they are to Japanese craftsmanship. Hinoki is revered for its fine, aromatic wood, making it an ideal material for creating durable, high-quality sake cups. The soft, light-colored wood not only has a soothing fragrance but also ages beautifully over time, becoming even more refined with use. The rich texture of the Hinoki wood pairs perfectly with the intricate Kamon design, offering a truly luxurious and authentic experience when enjoying cold beverages like sake or water. Please note, these cups are specifically designed for use with cold beverages only. They are perfect for serving chilled sake, refreshing cold water, or other beverages of your choice. The cups can also be used to hold small snacks or delicate treats, such as nuts, dried fruits, or Japanese sweets, making them versatile and functional for any occasion. Each cup in the set is generously sized, allowing for a substantial pour, making them ideal for both formal and casual occasions. The square shape and elegant Kamon pattern enhance their visual appeal, while maintaining their authenticity and functionality. Whether you're hosting a special dinner, participating in a Japanese tea ceremony, or simply enjoying a quiet moment of reflection, these sake cups will bring beauty and tradition to your experience. Perfect as a thoughtful gift for occasions like Japanese New Year, weddings, or other cultural celebrations, the Masu Sake Cups embody a sense of timeless craftsmanship and cultural reverence. To ensure the longevity of their intricate design and preserve the natural beauty of the Hinoki wood, we recommend gently hand washing the cups and drying them with a cloth. Embrace the spirit of Japan with these exquisite Kamon-patterned Masu Sake Cups – a sophisticated addition to your collection that honors both the art of sake drinking and the rich cultural symbolism of the Japanese crest.

The box looks just as it is pictured. These boxes are a traditional item that is used for drinking sake either with a glass inside the box or the alcohol directly poured inside. I use it as a decorative piece and it looks great. I have never used it directly to drink sake, simply because the square shape feels a bit awkward, and therefore I do not know if the quality is such to prevent leaks when liquid is inside.Disclaimer: Although I received this product free of charge, I still have to pay taxes on it, as it is viewed as income via a 1099. Everyone can therefore rest assured that this review is my honest experience with this item.

Well-crafted boxes intended as serving vessels for sake. It is not masterclass work but still very eye-pleasing. I kind of don't want to use them as intended for fear of ruining them, but I can always buy another set.

Great gift for my Japanese mother. She appreciated the Sake cups. The quality is good, and they are a good size. It has the family crescent of my mom's side of the family/

I'm not an experienced sake drinker, but there's something about these that enhances the experience when you bring the visuals of the crest and the box, the smell of the hinoki wood, and the taste of the sake together. I probably don't have the most discerning palate, nor did I conduct the most scientific testing, but I liked drinking sake from these better than just from a shotglass or the bottle itself. My favorite part of having these around is that they look great as decorative items that you can also use to drink sake, and even if you don't drink at all these would look great at your desk as an alternative to the coffee mug full of pens and paperclips.

I think these Waraku Fuuka Japanese Hindi wood sash sake cups are beautiful. The pair I got have visibly different colored doves on them but does not detract from the quality (just cohesiveness). The difference can also help distinguish "who's cup is whose!"They have a mild but delicious smellThe edges are meticulously sanded smooth and they're fitted perfectlyGiven that they come from Japan I guess the 23 dollar tag is warrantedAlso the care in making them (I would guess they are hand finished and possibly hand assembled--though I don't know for certain)Great for sake, snacks and or a small catch all for jewelry rings/earingsVery happy to have theseHighly recommendedPackaged nicely and would make a lovely gift

Superbly crafted Japanese Masu boxes, made from traditional cypress wood.A Musu is a specific measure-it’s the odd sized plastic cup that comes with every rice cooker. The wood Masu has a role in Sske etiquette. It is sometimes used as a cup, sometimes a cup. Each way it is used in this context is meant to convey appreciation. The box itself is very light and is intricately constructed using a tongue and groove technique. It has that understated Japanese design note which works well in any setting.Recommended.

These two cups are the cutest cups indeed and fit very nicely in your hand. We don't drink sake, but we love items crafted with wood, and while I am not certain what we will use them for yet, they will look nice on our table. You could use them for candies, like the lemon drops that Amazon sells (we will probably do that when company arrives), or I may use them to keep guitar picks in! Use your imagination and I am sure you can use them for many things!

桐の良い香りがして綺麗な枡、千鳥の家紋が可愛い。お酒やつまみを入れたり、和のミニチュアを飾ってもいい。
