Jazz Lab are best known for creating innovative products such as the Sax holder, Sax silencer and now the Sax deflector to aid all sax players both at home and in a live setting. The SAXDEFLECTOR is a new product for 2016 that will prove to be of great use to many players. It is in essence an acoustic shield that quickly and securely clips onto the underside of the bell. The shield is angled towards the player so the sound can be redirected towards your ears. This helps you work on your sound and articulation when practicing at home even at lower volumes and for better audibility when playing live, as it can be difficult to hear clearly at a gig. The angle can also be adjusted easily for a different heights of player and to affect how much of the sound is deflected towards you. This also allows you to practice quieter. There is a small hole in the shield to allow for sound to be carried towards the audience so it does not act as a mute your saxophone. It can be fitted onto soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and can neatly be transported in a case or gig bag.

I've purchased them all and this sound deflector is the best of them all. The mechanism that connects the deflector to your horn is well made and allows you to adjust the sound deflecting shield perfectly. Also, allows for a very secure connection to the horn. One thing to keep in mind, the deflator is made of a brittle plastic so one needs to be careful not to drop it or bang it as the connection point is a small tab of plastic. Works great though.

Does what it’s intended to do. It’s like playing against the wall. I don’t here the echo and now I know what other people are hearing. Very pleased with this item. Easy to latch on to the sax. Very pleased.

I recently played (sax) in a 7 pc. band plus 4 vocals, but there was only a single monitor mix. The Saxdeflector got me through it without being in the mix very much.

I only give it 3 stars because of the price. Once I saw it, it looks like at most a $10 item to me. It's a small piece of plastic. Someone is making a killing selling these.

I am impressed with this reflector. I had a different one that kept breaking on my. I had the clip replaced and shipped to me and it broke. I glued it and it broke again. I finally gave up and ordered this product. It is very solid and will allow me to place the sax on the stand with the deflector still attached to the bell of the instrument. I can't say enough about how solid this deflector is. I use it to practice in my sound proof studio practice room and also on gigs when I am not "miked" and/or the band is a bit loud. It keeps me from overblowing.

It did give good sonic feedback, but as for being as good as a wall?.....Wellllll. Sorry, can't agree. On the bandstand? Yes! Most definitely, where you need some feedback (not electronic of course - der!) for your sound, but also need to project to the mike/audience etc, hence the space in the reflectors design (of course). But for solo practice, that space is a detriment. I wish they had included an INSERT to go in that space so you get a FULL reflection of the sound, as it obviously allows some of the sound to escape. A wall however reflects everything. Put an insert into the design and I'd probably give it five stars. It JUST fits in my sax case too so is ideal for portability. I think I would have preferred a clip to attach to my sax, rather than a screw assembly. A bit too much fiddling about tightening etc. But at least it is secure. It seems quite sturdy and not prone to breakage. Time will tell. Now, fix that gap!

I love this thing. It makes me look like a total dork, but if I'm playing a jazz gig with no amplification, this thing works wonders.
