This fit our backhoe exactly and installed easily. We have about 40 hours of use on it and it’s working great!

Excellent unit. Watch my video “Case 480-580 All-Terrain Forklift 3rd Install ( May 2024 )”. On YouTube. See old unit leak badly and this unit hold pressure. Also install instructions (if anyone actually needs them ).

Unit leaked badly out of threaded end, I waited past the return deadline before installing and can’t return it. I would not buy again

The hydraulic oil is bypassing in the center travel of the cylinder. Need to turn the steering wheel faster, in order to get the front tires to move left or right. I changed the cylinder with a used rebuild one, now my steering works again. This cylinder has a larger diameter in the center, this allowed oil to push past the piston seal. Poor quality.

Not as big as the originals on my 1970 Case 580CK backhoe. I have to rev up the motor to turn the steering wheel where I did not have to on the old ones. Old ones had worn out ball joints and they were not available at the time I needed them so tried these. I still have them and if I can find the parts for a decent price, I will rebuild those and take these off. These do work but there is not as much turning force as the old ones.

When it comes to Hydraulic cylinders the best gauge of quality is usable life and easily repaired. This cylinder is heavy which indicates quality heavy construction. The cylinder appears easy to repair and or rebuild. The ball joints are tight and constructed of heavy metal indicating long wear. Finally, the seals look to be well made and tight fitting. Overall, based on construction, this appears to be a high quality Hydraulic cylinder that should give years of trouble free use.
