Nothing really wrong except the pin that the base plate swivels on is really cheap. Mine cracked. I'm just going to grind it out and use a solid length of metal from cutting a bolt down or something.

I was searching for a quality arbor press when I decided to settle on a Chinese made item - against my better judgment. I chose the Jet brand thinking that may help with the quality - wrong. As soon as I opened the box the first issue jumped out - the set screw for the pinion retainer was floating around loose. When I attempted to screw it back in I noticed why it was not fastened to begin with. The threaded hole in the retainer is not perpendicular to the shaft - drilled and treaded at about 20 degrees off. I thought I would just repair the retainer by drilling it perpendicular to the shaft and re-tap it to the next size. Issue # 2; you could play ring toss in the yard with the sloppy tolerance of the retainer to the shaft. I will request a replacement part hoping for a better quality item and fabricate a new retainer in the mean time. Issue # 3; the unit was never thoroughly cleaned - metal chips everywhere. Issue # 4; the ram adjustment consists of 4 bolts (2 side & 2 front) that ride directly on the ram - very poor design. If you haven't already lowered your standards to accept Chinese tools in your shop; hold out for a quality US made product.

Base split in half (width wise) when I tried using it the first time to press in bearings on a half inch shaft. I did get it by the scheduled date and had no issues returning it. Amazon emailed me a return shipper that I was able to use and send it back. I did not get another.

I use this Arbor Press on a daily basis, it shows no signs of the abuse that it is put through. Exerts plenty of force in the direction you need it to, all you have to do is mount this to a sturdy table and you are all set.

The best thing that I can say is that delivery was prompt. Beyond that, this turned out to be a great waste of $100. The press worked fine for occasional use over a month-long period before the base split in half. Spend your money on a better tool.
