I've had it for about a month now, I bought this to use with a Trick Tools Multitool Belt & disk combination tool. My other grinder was an older Clark 8" 3450 rpm 8.0 amp 3/4 HP rated bench grinder. it could not handle the 2" x 36" belt sander for much in the way of metal deburring or corner shaping of anything over 1/8" in thickness gauge without bogging down. The work I planned to do with the trick tools multitool was too much for it so after much researching about I came to the Jet model IBG-8 1 hp 8 inch bench grinder model. Upon receiving, unboxing and assembling the Jet IBG-8 with the Multitool mounted in the process I have to admit I was impressed with the fit, finish, and build quality of this unit. I have run and worked with some really old Baldor heavy industrial bench grinders in the past when I work in a couple of different fabrication shops years ago, so I am familiar with what makes a better quality unit. This Jet unit comes across as a quality unit, runs smooth and fairly quite with power to spare using my new Multitool as well as a small bit of use on the remaining 60 grit 8" grinding wheel on the other side. The retainer/mounting plates for the grinding wheels are a thicker heavier milled set of plates as you would expect to find on a quality industrial grinder, no cheap pressed out basically oversized washers here, but the real deal. I did need to fiddle with the wheel set up and balance a bit, but followed their directions on it and did fine. Setting this unit up with the 8" 60 grit wheel on one side and the Multitool on the other after tuning up the wheel has it running very smooth, and quite. I have as of yet to do any deburring, sanding, or grinding with either the Multitool or the 8" wheel that showed the slightest strain or slow down on the grinder motor or speed. I have to date worked with 11ga. through 1/2" bar plate mild carbon steel on the belt grinder without so much as a bog down or motor strain of any kind during the operations. The motor comes up to full speed nearly instantaneously when you switch it on with no hesitation winding up to speed and maintaining it through out your work.Overall I would highly recommend it to a small shop operation, this one's a keeper! Maybe later I will edit and add a couple of photos!

Came up to speed quickly and quieted down to a low hum as it ran. Very powerful and no vibrations. This grinder is all business. Both wheels ran true and smooth. . The eye shields are large and very nice. Tool rests are good quality also. Heavy enough to stand alone but I bolted it down to my bench. So far no regrets. Well worth $259. I also purchased the LED light made by Jet for this unit and it shines a medium size bright light wherever you point it . I really like the light ($59), although I think it should have come with the grinder. Fast shipping from CPO Outlets.

I purchased this unit after reading reviews. It is very quiet and really appreciate the dust collection. This unit is very quiet and does not wobble as it described. Just a rock-solid machinery. I have many Jet tools, and I really appreciate the quality of the tools.

A beast of a grinder: Heavy, Powerful, and Ultra Smooth Running. If not for the completely junk wheels it comes with, I would give it 5+ stars. Frankly, they would improve their image if they sold it without wheels. Based on packaging and a missing part, I'm pretty sure mine was previously returned and I can understand why because when I first turned it on, it wanted to vibrate off the table. Readjusted the wheels and it quieted down some; but when I took off the included wheels and put on a pair of CBNs, it became so smooth and quiet that you almost don't know it's running. This grinder will last 2 - 3 lifetimes - just dump the junk wheels it comes with.

I have had this unit for over a month now and I am impressed by how smooth and quiet it runs is compared to the DeWalt I sent back!! This grinder has all the horse power you will need. I installed a wire wheel on one side and it didn't take me very long to realize I have to hold on very firmly to the piece I am cleaning or the wheel will rip it out of my hand. I could say I would like to see is a bigger guide table to rest the work on but that is really so minor it's just a wish. This grinder stays put when you turn it on and has very very little vibration, only that of the motor which is to be expected. DeWalt should take lessons on how to build a grinder that doesn't think it's a dance instructor when tuned on.

I do blacksmithing as a hobby and in that time, I used a 35 year old Delta grinder for some of the work. While the grinder was ok, it would easily get stalled if I got aggressive at all on the grinding. So I looked around and went with this grinder because of the reviews and because of the HP.My initial trial runs seem very positive. It spins up to full speed in just a few seconds. I tried a bit of grinding including pushing a larger piece against with a modest amount of force. It handled it very well with no sign of slowing down. So far, very happy.A few minor issues. Not enough to keep from buying it but things I think they could improve. And this first one is very minor. The anal retentive side of me wishes the safety glass was better centered over the wheels. They are offset by a bit and I'm not sure why. I'll look later to make sure I didn't do something wrong with the setup. The other one which is actually kind of annoying for me is the lack of a courtesy wrench for tightening and adjusting the grinder. Yes, I have more than enough wrenches around the garage but it would have been nice to have a dedicated one that just stayed with the grinder. I had the one that came with my old grinder and it stayed attached to the front of the grinder using a magnet. I never had to go grab a wrench when adjusting. I will probably pick one up but considering the cost of this grinder, either toss a wrench in for free or bump the price up just a few dollars to cover it.Once again, neither issue would have caused me to not buy this grinder or downgrade the review. I highly recommend it (so far).
