Been practicing for over over 5 years and have always had trouble looking for quality gi's that feel comfortable. Fabric feels good on the skin and provides great airflow even after conditioning and sparring. Gi is far more durable than others I've tried in the past and will become my go to recommendation from now on.

I've been doing martial arts for well over a decade, and the sizing system for this gi was new to me. So here's a size reference: I'm a 5'2" woman, 130 lbs, and I'm borderline between a standard size 2 and size 3 gi. This brand of gi has sizes of A1, A2, etc. The A1 fit me about the same as a size 3 gi.One important note if you're new to martial arts is to make sure that you get the right gi (uniform) for your particular school. Even within the same martial art, different teachers and dojos can have different preferences and dress codes. Some are pretty relaxed, but others are super picky. A more traditional school might not love the amount of color on this uniform. Other schools don't care about color, but are picky on the length of the sleeves and other fit issues. Especially keep that in mind if you intend to compete, as there will be guidelines on what you can wear. I think it's a good rule of thumb to always talk to your instructor if you're new, to make sure you order something that fits the dress code. It's not super obvious in the product pictures, but the gusset in the legs is colored. In the pictures, I thought there was just a little highlighting, but when the gi arrived, realized the entire gusset is colored. I'm referring to the big piece of fabric in the crotch of martial arts pants. The extra material gives you more room to move around. Think of what it'd be like if you tried to kick in jeans that are 100% cotton (so no stretch). The fabric would restrict your flexibility. So martial arts pants have extra fabric (a gusset) between the legs so you're able to kick and such. Anyway, that middle piece is quite large (which is normal) and on this gi it's a contrasting color (which is not standard). For the black gi, it's bright red. Depending on your preferences, that could either be cool, or it might look weird to you. More importantly, will your teacher mind? Here again, I suggest checking the dress code in advance. The fabric is very smooth and lightweight, though with the caveat that it contains 65% polyester. Polyester can be pretty lightweight, but the fabric doesn't breathe as easily as other fabrics with more cotton. That's why I took off a star, because polyester makes me hot during a workout, which obviously isn't preferable. Maybe you're different, but that's why I took off a star- because even though the fabric is lightweight, the type of fabric can still be hot. That said, it didn't prevent me from giving this gi a try. This is a BJJ gi, and if you're doing jiujitsu, you're probably going to get drenched in sweat regardless of what you wear. Plus you probably have a compression shirt and spats on underneath, which are also polyester. The other reason why I didn't give this five stars is because I wish there was another extra layer on the knees. Yes, they did reinforce the knees, but with how thin the fabric is, I'd prefer just one more layer on top of what they've already put into the knee, just to help it last longer without getting holes.I like everything else about this gi. The tie on the pants is springy elastic, which I liked. I like the way it fits me, and I think it looks cool and feels like a decent quality for this price point. Time will tell how long it holds up- I don't expect any gi to last forever if you do lots of grappling in it, but I'm optimistic that this one will do decently over time. The knee will probably go out first. The rest of the uniform will probably last longer.

Fantastic product! The Jjma jiu jitsu gi is not only extremely comfortable, but provides full motion on every movement with relative ease. The compact stitching looks great and when thrown in the washing machine it doesn’t shrink or feel any different.Definitely please with the product and hope to get another soon!

The JJMA Jiu Jitsu gi is not only incredibly lightweight, making it comfortable to train in, but it’s also impressively durable. It has quickly become my go-to choice for training sessions, and I highly recommend it to a fellow Jiu Jitsu practitioners. JJMA has definitely exceeded my expectations with this product!

I've been doing BJJ almost daily for over a year, so I've tried a variety of budget and not so budget GIs. This one definitely fits the budget side of things with the price of $60 at the time of reviewing it.My first reaction was the fabric is rather smooth and soft, not abrasive or stiff like my competition Sanabul Gis. The contrast color in the crotch is similar to the core series by sanabul.I can't speak to durability, so long term I will need to update this review if it holds up/doesn't based on adding it to my rotation. The pants are ripstop fabric, which I prefer, but I know some people don't like that, and the knees are not double layered, but neither are many I've seen. For fit, I am an athletic/dense 5'10" 175 lbs and A2 fits me in most brands of GI (except Elite which end up being tight on me out of the package). This gi seems to be on target and fit me nicely, though I don't know how it will do after a wash. Since I hang dry (except if I'm trying to shrink them) I will probably wash and hang dry this one and see if the sizing shifts or the fabric feel/texture changes. There are some details which I would have liked to see, like the string belt is just cut with the ends melted rather than tied off (not a huge issue because the cost, but definitely indicative of their target audience).Included in the package is your standard cheap/flimsy white belt, a nice addition if you are a white belt and need a backup or are giving this to someone new to the sport.
