Once a bowl or vase is turned to final shape and size, a groove cut in the bowl at the waist just deep enough for the abalone feature ring really stands out in Mesquite or Walnut.

Self-sticky super thin decals. They are meant to stick onto a surface, not for inlay. On the plus side, they do look like abalone, and relatively inexpensive.IMO these are not suitable to dress up a musical instrument, unless you set the bar pretty low. Real abalone is a stiff material meant to be inlaid into routed pockets, the sanded flat/level wih the wood, and then polished out. You cannot do that with this. There is not enough thinckness to these strips to do any sanding or polishing, once applied.I seriously doubt this is real abalone, based on the strips being rather flexible. Real abalone shell material would be rigid, and would break if flexed to the extend these strips can be flexed. These look like a rather nice man-made imitation. A strip of straight abalone would be inlaid into an arched channel by repeatedly breaking it. You could not break these strips in that manner, they would just flex.So: What could this be used for? Maybe to dress up an entry level diy project.Abalone inlay for professional quality instrument is typically reserved to high-end ones. Applying as a sticker, without inlaying, sanding and polishing just does not look like the real thing, a sticker / decal will unfortunately look cheap.

They look great, apply easily, and turn nicely on an acoustic dreadnought style guitar. Just make sure you buy two packs, they only come with 5 thin strips, and only completed wrapping about 60 percent of my guitars edges. Just a heads up people.

Make sure you have scissors, tweezers and patience, but these look fantastic! No more toxic shell dust for me! Using these are so much easier and safer than actual inlay work and, if done correctly, looks every bit as good as actual inlay work. Pics to follow...

Does not look like real abalone. Parts of the sticker peeled off when the clear part was removed. Over priced.

Nice vibrant colors, adhesive works well, but for the size and amount, very overpriced. Never again, Lesson learned
