Was using other brands, which didn't have eyes that could stand up to what I do (axe sheaths, masks, saddle stitching, 8-9 oz leather). Absolute joy to use! Bigger than I'd imagined compared to other needles I used, but they slip right through. You don't have to be as careful with them, afraid of breaking. They hold up. Eyes are durable, not brittle, don't break. Wish I'd been using these all along. Still using the first two I took out of the package, when other make I was using, I might go through three broken needles on a single line of stitch. Like I said, *delighted*!

JOHN JAMES IS THE BEST IN THE BIZ. THEY HAVE BEENMAKING NEEDLES IN ENGLAND SINCE 1840. THEY ARE REALLY A GREAT VALUE@ 25 NEEDLES IN A PACK, FOR WHAT OTHERS CHARGE FOR 10 . CAN'T LOSE. DURABLE AND EASE OF THREADING 1MM THREAD. MADE SOME MOCCASINS, WALLET, SMALL POUCH, AS WELL AS USED THEM TO REPAIR A NYLON FOLDUP LAWN CHAIR. JUST PRICK OR PUNCH THE HOLES IN THE LEATHER AND GET TO WORK!

Ok I'm thrilled with these needles. I recently returned a leathercraft kit to amazon that was cheap Chinese knock off garbage because the needles and awl were cheap soft metal that broke and bent so easily. These needles are the real deal, and if you're new to leather craft like me you will very quickly find how important quality tools are. Low quality tools are a waste of money and can damage your expensive leather. Buy these, they're a great deal for 25 needles that are super hard and slim. They do run a little small, I was able to run the thread of the corresponding size, but not able to fold the thread and run the double width of thread through to do the looping knot. No big deal if you buy good thread which I also got from this seller: Ritza Tiger thread. Buy that thread and skip the crap that smells like moth balls.

John James needles are the best I have found so far. I have used the same two needles for 2 months and haven't been blable to break them.

I like the small eyes compared to other needles. These eyes don’t break nor do they enlarge holes. A must have.
