I play in a community band and in a summer concert band. The JP 274 is perfect for this, and is probably perfect for most applications in an upper level school environment. It has a very nice, warm tone. The valves are smooth and quiet. It plays in tune very nicely with it's compensating system. I like it's weight. It comes in a good strong case. I use a Denis Wick 4AL mouthpiece, and this combination of mouthpiece and horn makes a beautiful sound. I recommend it highly.
