This unfinished Pine drying rack has 15 slide out drying shelves. It can be used free-standing or hanging on a wall. The shelves will hold artwork up to 13" x 18", but I would limit the size to 11" x 17" to provide free space around the edges. There is a 1" space between shelves. The drying rack is 19" deep by 13" wide by 20" high. The wire shelves have stops that prevent the shelf from being removed completely. When assembled, the drying rack feels pretty solid. However, I'm not sure how long it will remain that way. There are no dowels, cam lock fasteners, corner braces, angle brackets, or glue to provide long-term structural integrity. The wood screws holding the drying rack together drive into the end grain of the wood. This is Pine which is a softer wood than say, Oak. The screws will eventually loosen if the rack is repeatedly moved about. The lack of dowels or other alignment devices made assembly a challenge. The insertion of the shelf stop pins were another issue. The pins have to be inserted after each shelf is installed. When inserted, a wire from the shelf is directly over the hole. So you have to push the wire aside while inserting the very, very tight pin. I had to use a pair of pliers to hold the pin and a tack hammer to seat the pin. While we are talking about tools, the included screwdriver is junk. I used my Kobalt cross-head (phillips) screwdriver. Since the wood is soft, you need to be careful about tightening the screws. A small screwdriver can sometimes promote over-tightening.This drying rack would be a great addition to any artist's studio.I detected no visual or operational defects in manufacturing.

This was really easy to put together. However the pins to hold the shelves in place did not fit into the pre drilled holes. I omitted them and the rack works fine. This rack has enough shelves for my personal use but might be a bit small for a classroom if you are doing anything other than painting. The shelves have very large opening so work will have to be larger than those holes- 5x5 or larger. The wood is unfinished but I like that. I'll have it covered in paint in no time.

This doesn’t come with the best instructions at all. You’re pretty much on your own to figure thing out. Once built, it is sturdy and stable. It is quite large and heavy as well, so build near where you want to place it. It holds a lot of paintings and good sized ones at that. This is perfect for my art student daughter who is always working with different mediums, especially oils and watercolor that need a safe place to dry. She was excited about this, because we have cats and they climb all over everything and she was having trouble finding safe places for her work to dry. The shelves pull out smoothly and easily as well. Overall we’re pretty happy with this and would buy again. Good value if it’s something you’ll use often.

This can be mounted, but I just put it in our garage to dry our arts and crafts projects! if we have something too tall, I just take one of the other racks out, and it fits perfectly. I really love this thing as a mom of three, who are always doing art. Instead of putting them on the counter to dry, I'm able to put everything out of the way so we can still cook dinner while things are drying. I can't live without it.
