I put this on a air cooled jc Onan I use as a whole home generator, being on the gulf coast I'm more concerned about hurricanes but we do get the rare ice storm. I'm lazy and don't feel like switching my summer 15w-40 oil to a lighter winter oil every season so if it gets about 25 or below I plug it in. Last freeze it Was 17 and I thermal checked the oil and it was 56. Not bad, it holds 6qts of oil and I have it threaded directly into the oil pan. If you crank one of these with heavy oil in sub temps the thick oil can snap off your oil pump shaft leaving you screwed. Not a place I want to be.
