I have never knitted a day of my life, so I bought this kit to try and teach myself. It may be easier with yarn that doesn’t completely separate into its own strings and needles that seem entirely too long. It was difficult learning the knit stitch and purl stitch with extra long needles. The instruction book is okay, but I did seek guidance from online videos. I have nicer yarn and shorter needles coming, so hopefully I can finally learn these stitches.

I am an experienced crocheter and wanted to learn to knit for more versatility. When I got this kit I was immediately impressed by the quality of yarn and supplies included. The knitting needles are basic but well-constructed, the labels are adorable, and the smaller accessories are all something I would happily buy independently of a kit. The yarn label does not include English writing so I don't know what type of yarn it is, but it is a worsted weight yarn that I suspect is either acrylic or a blend. The best thing about the yarn is that it's spun in a way that greatly reduces splitting and makes it easier to use. It's also really soft and the color is great.The instructions are where this kit lost me. While there are many, many pages of instructions with photos for each step, none of it helped me figure out what to do. I had to go to YouTube for video tutorials. When it came to the patterns they were very brief (eg cast on number of desired stitches; knit and purl across row for desired number of rows). This did not help me in the slightest. In the end, I couldn't figure it out and gave up.I'm still planning to use the yarn for crochet projects as it is quite nice, and other than the knitting needles all of the items can also be used for crochet. I think if you had even a small amount of experience knitting this would be a great kit, and in any case it's a great value for the yarn and supplies you get even if you end up crocheting instead, like I did.

I’d highly recommend using the picture of the kit to buy supplies from the store. The needles are ok, the yarn doesn’t slide on the wood needles well though. The instructions are mediocre, I ended using YouTube for everything. But the yarn the comes with it is not good! It unravels as you’re knitting and it’s beyond frustrating, leaving strings hanging out. Plus the needles are too small for the yarn that it comes with, leading to needing more stitches than recommended in the book, and takes a lot longer to knit anything. The yarn calls for 6mm needles but it comes with 4mm needles.
