  • COUNTERFLOW CHILLER: This Kegco's Stainless Steel Counterflow chiller can rapidly chill your wort twice as fast as a standard immersion wort chiller and does not need to be submerge in the wort, making it usable for any size brew pots or kettles.
  • STAINLESS STEEL CONSTRUCTION: This chiller is constructed in 12' of 5/8" stainless steel with an addition of 7/8" stainless steel for durability. Stainless steel is known to be more durable towards wear and tear and easier to clean than copper, the cost is usually cheaper as well.
  • PROCESS PERFORMANCE: The counterflow chiller pumps hot wort and cold water in the opposite directions to make the entire process more efficient and quicker. The inner tube is used to feed the hot wort, while cold water runs though the outer tube in the opposite direction.
  • DESIGNS: Kegco's counterflow chiller designed with a coil that is approximately 6" in diameter, uses 1/2" tubing and hose clamps to connect the in and out feeds of the wort, and uses 3/4" male and female hose connections for in and out of cold water.
  • CHILLER DIMENSIONS: Chiller is approximately 10-1/4" high and 6" in diameter.

Chills very fast. I use this with a March 809 brewing pump and with a new brew kettle with a tangential inlet to both chill and whirlpool simultaneously. Cut my chilling time down substantially vs my old immersion chiller, and had almost zero trub transferred to the fermenter. Most of the trub was trapped in a cone in the center of the kettle. Also, I was concerned about not having barbs on the wort tube. However, I discovered that with 1/2" silicone tubing, it is a very tight fit and takes quite a bit of work to get on and off. I throw hose clamps on there just to be sure, but it's probably not necessary. Oh, and it does have both male and female garden hose thread couplers on the water line. However, I discovered that they didn't do a good job of tightening the female GHT fitting and it started leaking about half way into chilling. It's just water, so no big deal...but I recommend taking the fitting off, re-wrapping it with teflon tape and snugging it down well, before the first use.My ONLY complaint about this chiller is that the first time I heated it up, it uncoiled about 20-30 degrees. So now the inlets and outlets aren't lined up anymore...not a huge deal, but would have been nice if the manufacturer had accounted for this and heat treated it to relax the coil into proper alignment.

Great construction and overall good buy. If you are going to use high temp silicone tubing it fits snugly over the tube and can be secured with a house clamp. However I planned to use compression fittings to hard pipe this in and out is slightly smaller than the 5/8" as advertised, so the fittings don't work.

This is a great chiller. It is seriously built like a tank. It's heavy. I love the stainless steel, it looks great with my stainless kettles on my brew stand and I don't have to worry about corrosion. Ground water chills my beer easily as long as I monitor the flow rate from the kettle. I can transfer a little over 5 gallons of boiling hot wort through this chiller and it comes out cool enough to pitch in about 15 minutes. It took my immersion chiller over an hour. Really saves time. I plan on using my ol' immersion chiller as a pre-chiller to cool the water down even more and make the process even quicker. I wish the in and out connections for the inner-tube had threads for connecting a thermometer or quick-disconnects, but I suppose that would raise the price. I used a small section of silicon tubing to attach quick-disconnects to each end and I might get an inline thermometer later on.

The way that I chill my wort is to recirculate through the chiller until the wort reaches pitching temperature. In the past, I used a copper immersion chiller and then built a copper Counterflow Chiller that had close to 20ft of reverse flow contact. In both cases, I started with city water until the wort reached about 110 degrees. Then I would switch to a pump and cooler full of ice water. In both of these setups, I could get the wort which was recirculating in the boil kettle down to 68-70 degrees in 20-25 minutes. I would then drain the wort in entirety to the fermentor and pitch the yeast. As I suspected with this product, the Kegco FL-SCFC Counterflow Chiller, with only 12 foot of coil and stainless steel vs copper material DOES NOT perform as good as either my immersion or copper counterflow chiller. On average, the Kegco Chiller adds 10 minutes to my cool down time- now 30-35 minutes. My main reason to buy this product was to switch to stainless. It's just too bad that I had to sacrifice cooling time. Kegco is one of the few stainless steel counterflow chillers on the market. Do us all a favor- add another 6 ft of coil and put some NPT termination on the wort coil.

I almost bought this and would have except that I want to use quick connects to easily remove hoses for ease of cleaning. The only chiller i could find that was stainless steel and had pipe thread on the wort side was from northern brewer(https://smile.amazon.com/gp/r.html?C=1DXVYNA81OCXE&K=31EBNC46Q7I6Y&M=urn:rtn:msg:201811040046459542a5b372d04529b94f6927e5d0p0na&R=12UXH71RHD846&T=C&U=https%3A%2F%2Fsmile.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB07GSHZ34Y%3Fref%3Dem_1p_2_ti%26ref_%3Dpe_210330_368716400&H=TH4XOCZF2BFHCEJAANIZT7MBYGUA&ref_=pe_210330_368716400), and with the exception of the lack of ability to ship anything timely, it is what I went with and am extremely happy with it, meeting all of my expectations

I had a cfc with a much smaller inner diameter wort tube, and it severely hindered my whirlpool power. With the much bigger inner diameter tubing, it should fix my issues.
