I have been getting into food photography and needed a budget friendly way to get those crisp top-down shots. I did not want to go out of my way and buy a whole new tripod or rig to get this shot. This accessory is the perfect solution because it allows you to connect it to a tripod that you already own. I attached my own ball-head to it and put my Sony a6300 on it and had no issues. It was attached to my Manfrotto befree aluminum tripod. With this light setup, it works out very well. If you have a heavier setup then you can always add a counterweight to the hook on the opposite end.Pros:PortableBudget friendlyCompatible with almost any tripodHas a hook to counter balanceCons:Wish it extended a little longerIn conclusion, if you are looking for a budget friendly way of getting into product/food photography then I would highly recommend making a setup with this.

A previous review titled "Design flaw makes this worse than useless" almost dissuaded me from purchasing this accessory, but fortunately I went ahead and gave it a try and I'm extremely glad I did, since the "design flaw" exists only if you don't realize that one must (obviously, to me at least) take OFF the removable white plastic gear-teeth protector that is used to keep the locking metal parts from scraping against each other during delivery transit. Underneath the ring lie the teeth that PERFECTLY match the opposing side as seen in my photo, so that it can make a tightly secure fit. So far, I'm completely satisfied with its function for my photographic needs, but will update this review if my opinion changes.

In my previous review, I noted missing parts: no way to attach part which receives ball head to this device, included tripod screw not long enough to decently attach to ball head, supposed to have a hook on opposite end with piece to hold counterweight: missing that assembly. I was very unhappy and returned the unit to Amazon.K&F reached out to me and after several emails, they offered to send a new unit directly. Since I have been looking for something like this product, I accepted their offer. The new unit, sent directly from China, is what I should have received earlier. There are no missing parts, there is an instruction sheet, all went together properly and works as advertised. I am guessing the earlier product (which came in a plain brown box, BTW, not the properly-labeled one which I received the second unit) had been returned by someone and either was not completely returned or pieces were lost at Amazon.Based on the new unit, I can now recommend it. Keep in mind that this is not an industrial-strength unit (nor is it priced like one). But for general-purpose use, it is certainly adequate. I suggest you keep an eye on the weight balance so it does not tip over if you put too much weight on the bullhead end (there is a hook on the other end for a counterweight, but I don't think you would want to overweight that end either). For the price, recommended for light/medium weight cameras. For heavier duty, you will likely need a much heavier and much more expensive unit. This fits the bill for me, and I recommend K&F's customer support for their followup.

This 'tripod boom' (that is what I call it) has been working well for my specific needs. I do close up and macrophotography of insects in the field, and in some situations I had needed to be able to lean the camera in close, while not disturbing the brush near the subject. This boom does the trick, and I am glad it is sold separately from the K & F tripod that includes this item since I already have a tripod. It has standard attachments to go with any tripod and any tripod head, of course, and it is very solid but also light. My only quibble (a small one) is that I did not get instructions for how to assemble the several parts that came. I figured that out, though it took me more than one try.

I needed this for extending a camera past the tripod and it is a perfect solution. Easy to set up, solid control, and if I would buy it again if I needed a second application

It's a bit hard to review it because at first glance all the parts seem be well-made and thought-out. There is a plethora of mounting configurations, adapters and etc. And this might have been a great device for the small mirrorless cameras, had it been advertised as that. However, it cannot be used for FF camera (even as light as Sony) or even larger APC-C bodies (for example Nikon D7X00 series) which are more than 500g in weight. The arm is very short. But there is no way it can hold 11lb or even less half of that of useful weight on one end, even when not fully extended in one direction. The mechanism that holds the arm and allows it to tilt is a simple screw in a plastic housing and simply cannot hold the bar tightly with any meaningful weight. Instead they seem to have in mind that you could balance the column from other side using the attached hook. But the hook is thin and flimsy and is attached to the column using a plastic fitting and plastic thread. And the hook also easily rotates. And to balance the column, you would have to add some sizable weight on other side to balance the beam, because it is essentially acting as a lever on a fulcrum. To balance my camera on a simple ball head( about 3.3lbs with 50mm lens, adapter and the ball head) extended at 9inches, I had to put around around 6 lb on the other side. And it all still looked like a very dangerous flimsy arrangement.

It's been sitting in a horizontal position for months with a smaller mirrorless camera attached to it, with no movement. Very satisfied.

I buy a lot of gear from K&F. I think it well-made for the price and this is no exception. However, I do find that it's difficult to tighten up the screw clamps so that the camera doesn't slowly move under it's own weight. I am using an Olympus OM1 so it's not a particularly heavy camera. In fairness, that's partly my problem as I've arthritis in my fingers. Even then, it would still have been nice if the screw clamp at the pivot point was designed to allow you to exert a bit more force without exerting so much effort.

Könnte für den Preis eine Spur fester sitzen aber schlecht ist es jetzt auch nicht.

I have had this for over a year now. I love it. My filming game has gone up another level since I purchased this item. This is great for doing cooking videos and any overhead photography or filming. Just don't attach it to a flimsy tripod because it will fall over and damage your filming gear. Be warned. I only use it on a very sturdy tripod and it works great.
