The product we received had no predrilled holes in the boards or the metal tubing. Assembly is impossible without drilling your own holes. Good luck lining them up.

Easy enough to put together. I did it myself in about an hour (while watching a movie). I needed something small, slim and not too wide for a tad bit of extra storage in my daughter's closet. I needed it to fit under a lower rack and not protrude out so far that it compromised the walking and floor space. This was perfect and the right price. There are currently 20 books on there. I'm not so sure about the claims of up to 40 books unless they are paper books or comics. I doubt 40 board books will fit. Also, I looked for different/extra storage cubes if I wanted to change up the color, but couldn't find any that were this exact size. Even on alllll of Amazon, so just know that the grey storage cubes are it. If you need significant storage there are bigger and better (and more expensive) children's bookcases out there, but for a tad more storage or for a small apartment or condo (or closet) this is great! I would recommend!

You get what you pay for. Cheaply made. It arrived filthy. I used a towel and warm water with soap to wash off some of the smudges of dirt. It holds things so I guess I works.

The bookshelf brought a very nice organized way to store what we read regularly with my 8 and 2 y.o. buddies. Very handy, not complicated to assemble, good looking affordable solution. Good way to train you little once to put books away, learn how to bring peace in their parents life :)Cons:Quality is so-so.- First of all do not use any powered screw drivers, the crews which comes with it are fragile. I managed to brake 3 of those and I did not use any power tools.- The insert holes are made with approximation so you might have to figure out have to clean it up or make it bigger. the side hinges flimsy so work with hole and and by no mean used hummer to force the hinge in- I do recommend pre drilling before you put screws in or find better screws (I would still pre drill)- The 2 piece metal bars, locking mechanism, is a joke. Not the idea itself but how it is made for this shelf.The only reason it was not returned, my wife already had her mind set and ready to use it ( and I am somewhat consider myself handy to love fixing stuff).Fighting very hard with myself to overcome the prejudices about Chinese manufacturing abilities because I am very familiar with quality it can have. Unfortunately not for this particular product.

Was a little bit tedious to build but once I got going it took me about 45 minutes. I’d recommend using a drill or having another person to help. It is cheap but decent quality for the price. Holds loads of books, the baskets are good quality.
