It is thick and stiff; very heavy duty, and lays perfectly flat. (It is shipped flat, and is too stiff to roll up.) It is just what I hoped it would be. The mildly textured finish is sophisticated looking. This Kingfom Desk mat just arrived today so I cannot comment on how it wears. The underside, while not soft fabric, looks like it will be gentle on surfaces. Mine arrived with one small indentation near a corner, but for my use this will not matter. It was well packaged for shipping. I am writing this review because others' reviews helped me in making this selection, so I hope this helps someone else.

Some times I blindly order stuff on Amazon without much thought. This was one of those times. With that said, this thing is pretty nice. It's a different ball game having a giant mouse pad like this. It wedged perfectly between the legs of my monitor stand that I also purchased on Amazon, so it solved all the sliding problems. After a couple of months use...no appreciable wear is detected. It arrived packaged perfectly flat, and didn't have any wrinkles, creases, or defects.

10/02/2016 UPDATE: I emailed the seller who emailed me back requesting that I provide:"order ID and products photos for us.we need them to check it for you." I provided the requested information but I never heard anything back. So I take that to mean there is no brown version available even though the item is described as brown. I took off one star for wasting my time.08/29/2016 UPDATE: I reordered and they again shipped black instead of brown. The label on the outer wrapper seems to indicate brown and the product description (as of this writing) indicates brown. So be cautious of you really must have brown. Otherwise, a good product.I ordered four these for a small office glass conference room table that was getting scratched. I was concerned about the size and whether they would just look like dinner table place mats. Well, they are very thick and sturdy, and the size is just right for my application. In the picture I have one of the top flaps raised to show how it works. There seems to be magnets embedded into the flap to clamp it down when not raised. Overall seems to work well. The description of this particular version indicates color brown, but the pictures seem to be black, and the product as delivered is black. I will return and reorder and see if I get the correct color. But other than the color issue, seems well made.

This is nice looking and a good writing/desk blotter. My only complaint is it slides a bit if you don’t have something to keep it in place or backup against. This isn’t an issue on my desk but might be for others. Still I give it high marks for being so nice looking and functional.

This was a gift and I returned it because the recipient did not like the size (the dimensions are clear but it was too large for their purpose). The item was very nice and seemed sturdy. I suspect it would have worked well.I dont know if I didn't read the return policy correctly but I was refunded less return shipping cost.

Ich habe mich total auf die Schreibunterlage gefreut. Tolles Produkt (hätte gerne 5 Sterne gegeben). Aufgrund der Beschädigungen durch Amazons schlechte Verpackung etc. gib es 2 Sterne Abzug. jed Zu großer Karton und die Plastikfolie war bereits beschädigt, in dieser die Schreibunterlage enthalten war.@Amazon: Ihr geht schlecht mit den Produkten um, das ist werden kinderfreundlich noch nachhaltig.

Dà un senso di ordine ed eleganza alla scrivania. Offre un appoggio della giusta durezza per scrivere su fogli singoli. C'è una pratica aletta nella parte superiore per fermare documenti o altro. Nella parte inferiore è rivestito con una specie di tessuto che non segna la superficie sottostante. Pienamente soddisfatto.
