I found these more effective at erasing or lifting charcoal lines for a cleaner picture.

Bought these for my trip to Greece. Did plein air & they melted over my mechanical pencils! Never had this problem before.

If someone wants a very, very soft kneaded eraser, this might do the job for them, but I found it to be sticky on my fingers, so much so that it was difficult to remove from the plastic wrap. It does work at removing shades, better on charcoal and just okay with graphite, and perhaps it'll become less sticky as it ages or gets saturated with graphite or charcoal, but I don't know. For someone who has difficulty with the hardness of traditional kneaded erasers, these might be worth trying, but for anyone else, I can only recommend they look into the established art brands instead. There is enough material in these six to cover about 2 1/2 General's kneaded erasers. At an art supply store, I can get two of those for the price of this pack, so the decision is on the buyer.

**Edit** Wow, was really surprised to read other reviews here! I didn’t encounter the same issues myself, mine work perfectly fine. I do think that, in general, they changed up the formula for kneaded erasers across the board throughout the decades…leaving the newer generation softer and stickier. But I’ve had no problem working with these. I did stretch them out and do so frequently, have you tried that, or do you leave them in their original shape? Think the last time I bought them was at a well known art supply shop about 6 years ago, and thinking to myself, “wow, even these are expensive now”, but I don’t remember the exact price.Six large sized kneaded erasers, all in their own individual plastic case, for just under $7. Can’t remember what these cost me the last time I purchased some from an art supply store. But I do know that I’m impressed with the price of this set of six. I had the opportunity to open one of the little plastic cases and try one out. It was very easy to manipulate, roll, stretch, and use. I love the fact that you can keep all six separate, or blend them all into one huge eraser. Kneaded erasers are those tools that I always manage to lose track of, despite having a set place for them. Somewhere in the universe, there lives my lost collection of kneaded erasers, probably the same place where all my lost socks live after their somber final walk to my dryer.I love kneaded erasers. I love the fact that all I have to do is gently pat one on my most expensive cotton watercolor paper in order to lighten or completely erase graphite markings without any stress to the paper, and without leaving crumbs. I love the fact that I can pull them long like puddy, twist it into a drill shape with the tiniest of tips, and erase the tiniest of marks. Or, I can combine several of them together into a large eraser hacky sack, and use it as an erasing swiping tool if I’m creating something with graphite powder or charcoal. I’m sure other people have imagined many other uses for them as well.Yes, I would get these again. I like the price, I like the erasers, and I love the convenience of purchasing a set of six large sized erasers in their own individual plastic box case, all for under $7. It’s a no brainer, as far as I’m concerned.

There is an element of sticky in these that can get annoying. There are better ones you can find.

These are sticky - and string when you use them, it will stick to your fingers and under your fingernails. I tried two of the six in case the one I first tried was too hot, since it was warm from shipping, but they were the same. I am returning and bought Mr. Pen erasers - which are so much bette me than these.

The product was gummy & sticky. Could not get the wrapping from the product. stuck to my fingers. I have used kneaded products before & did not have these problems.

I am by no means an expert on kneaded erasers but I have used quite a few in my time. I'm accustomed to them feeling like silly putty for the most part with some definite stretch and malleability. These ones are very, very soft and sticky and feel somewhere between silly putty and chewed gum. When first opening the package, it has the stretch of melted cheese and is a bit hard to remove from the plastic film wrapped around each eraser inside its case. After kneading it for a while, it does firm up a little bit and get a bit less sticky. As far as function, it does a good job of lightening graphite and charcoal marks. Despite its stickiness in hand, it does not stick to paper like I feared it might. The cases are a nice touch. While I don't really like the feel of handling these so much, they do work pretty well and the price is very economical. I don't think I'd give up my usual brand for these but they're perfectly serviceable for those on a budget.
