These are one of those tools that you never realize were so awesome until you get them. Sure you can use regular insulated metal pliers to move wires in a live breaker panel, but you might end up with a shower of sparks too. Not with these. These are my go to tool for work in breaker boxes. Guaranteed to be the envy of less well equipped peers as well. These are sturdy, when you first think about it you’re like, okay, yeah, sure, PLASTIC pliers, but when you hold them you realize how durable they are. The longer jaws make them great for reaching deep into tangles.German quality again 💯💯💯

I got this tool for hot work on 460v and it is a must have, it is rare to work live but there is some specific circuits I can't cut power and this pliers work amazing holding wires or setting them into the starters, any long nose even insulated but with metal tips wont be safe to work with. This pliers are the right size, provide good grip and are totally insulated, I have used this product for more then a year since I ordered and quality of the tool is second to none. Honest review, real user in the industrial automation field.

Knipex has had it's loyal followers for as long as I remember. They are often the brand most compared as an alternatitive to Klein and Channellock. Manufactured in Germany, and EXCLUSIVELY in Germany, since the late 1800's, they enjoy a high reputation, especially for their electrical tools. This particular tool has the important 1000V rating, which most amateurs take for granted. Hardware stores (and Amazon) are awash in "plastic pliers" which claim to be appropriate for electrical work. However these often have exposed metal handles and should not be trusted. For linemen and electricians performing work on energized circuts, the tool MUST by law be rated to withstand and protect the user up to 1000V.For the amateur, this may sound like overkill, but I'm going to tell you why its not: The amateur is more likely to make a mistake deenergizing circuitry and more likely to miswire small projects. For this reason, the DIY handyman or homeowner should consider this a necessity.I have rewired some of my own circuitry, correcting mistakes (or laziness) of previous homeowners and have found several occasions where the Knipex pliers were necessary for peace of mind - even with breakers flipped and multimeter checking for power. It's an excellent tool, and a layer of safety that even amateurs should not take for granted.JHA

The quality is amazing, they work so great, I cannot think of even trying to use anything else to do serious electrical work. Keep yourself safe!

I wasn't expecting too much when I bought these but I find myself using them regularly for poking around in control panels figuring out where wiring is running to, it's just nice to have the safety of a VDE tool. They're very robust with very little flex in the handles or jaws and they grip well without damaging the insulation on the wires. They're pretty large and can be a bit cumbersome at times for small panels so I wish they made a smaller size option as well.

Even though this is plastic, it seems to be quite stiff. You can squeeze pretty hard without it bending. Not that it has. Better than I expected.

Do not intend to use on 1000v but atleast a.230v will be fine just so to hold the wires for help.to.slot into the screwed area..yes all plastic or pe.or pu stuffs will break down after sometime..cannot speak for those higher end brand but atleaset this will.serve its purpose of keeping you safe for the.time given. Like all.electrical products ensure 5 things.1 do not abuse the tools. Use it for its intended purpose.2 ensure hands and bare wires not incontact with water3 makesure you work in safe enviroment that means the MCB ELCB CB are offline4 all neutral lines when touch with ground will cause the breaker to discomnect5 makesure you are grounded and wear a high insulated boots and glovesGood product not 'tight' within the joints. Smooth and good quality. Use it for holding the wires not for crimping or twisting the cores of the wires and not strippers.
