I’ve had my Kohler sink and drain cover for a lot of years. Finally decided to replace the drain cover because the original one was sluggish with adjusting to drain or hold water. This replacement fits perfectly and works like my old one used to.

My old Kohler Duostrainers from the 1980s have both finally fallen apart. The old ones did NOT utilize a rubber o-ring to seal against the drain pipe. Instead, they were solid stainless - a metal against metal seal! Believe it or not, both my old ones, and these, are made in America! That was a welcomed surprise.These new ones DO utilize a rubber o-ring, though, so I'm sure the rubber will eventually dry out and fail. But, hopefully, my local hardware store will have the correct size replacements when that happens. And I see that they are sold here on Amazon, as well.One noticeable improvement is the addition of detents, which keep the drain plug raised and secure when you want full drainage flow. My old ones had no such detents, so I had to use a file to make my own those many years ago, because the drain would suddenly drop and close itself on occasion.These stainless steel Duostrainers seem very well-made, with virtually the same weight as my old ones, and they're highly polished. So, except for the rubber o-rings, I'm expecting these to last for many years. If they fail prematurely, I'll make sure to update this review.ADVICE:Several reviewers have complained that the stopper insists on unscrewing itself, and falls off its shaft. If that happens to mine, I'll simply clean the post and the stopper threads and then screw them back together using J-B Weld 2-part epoxy on the threads. That stuff will NEVER let go!! By the way, my nearly 40-year-old ones NEVER unscrewed like that. = They don't make anything like they used to!

Kohler used to be a name associated with quality in plumbing fixtures. Like many companies, it would appear that Kohler has decided to sacrifice quality for a few more pennies in profit.I purchased this basket stopper to replace the one that came with the Kohler sink drain that I replaced several years ago. The basket metal was a light gauge that did not hold its shape which led to the collar that the handle passes through to come loose. This replacement has the same issue. I dare say that this basket is even a lighter gauge metal. I doubt that it will last. Not only that, the edge of the basket was not de-burred in the manufacturing process and could easily cut you.Very disappointed in the quality. There is little value in this product. I will return and try the HIGHCRAFT 9843 or 97353. I would have ordered one of those initially if they had posted better photos.

Our Kolher original drain plug lasted just after a year. A threaded screw feel off the bottom and went right down the drain. Purchased an off brand and it did not plug or strain properly. This part plugs or strain very well. It is more sturdy and the original.

Bought two of these for use in Kohler sink that is 30 years old but like new. Old strainers finally wore thru the brass bushings and would not stay open to drain. These replacements are a Quality product bought at Amazon for $38/pc, local big box wanted $52/pc! Replacement strainers are made by Kohler, fit perfectly and no leaks.
