Kong, Italy, a Bonaiti company, was formed in 1981 but its manufacturing tradition dates back to 1830 when Giusseppe Bonaiti began building metal snap hooks and harness parts by the shores of Lake Como in Northern Italy.
Today Kong S.p.A. manufactures some of the world’s best climbing, safety and rescue equipment in its modern factory in Monte Marenzo just south of Lecco. The company is managed by a sixth generation Bonaiti. 95% of all Kong products are manufactured inside the Kong factory.

Product looks legit. Amazon prime is worthless as shipping now always takes a week or more. The old bait and switch Amazon sucks do yourself a favor and order from other sources not Amazon

The KONG brand is a known climbing company, but the smaller sizes, which Amazon's page defaults to as the first choice, have no business in climbing applications. Frankly, Amazon should state "Not For Climbing Purposes" with the smaller links and a separate page for the larger links.

The 3.5 mm version weighs 8 g. If you search for other quick links, you can find a charts that show the working load and breaking load of similar quick links.The 3.5 mm version is the perfect size for 1-inch webbing. You can even use it exactly like a Dutch clip, except more compact and slightly lighter. It will not fall out of a loop in most webbing, even when open, and it doesn't seem to need to be closed to hold webbing. Warning: I have not tested my theory that webbing will not slip out of it with my full body weight when it's open. (Closed should be no problem for normal single-person hammock suspension.)

Nobody likes to leave gear behind, but sometimes it's unavoidable. While we've all seen the cheaper Home Depot quick links used to build anchors (≈1320 lb MBS), Kong Quicklinks are rated for 40 kn (8,960 lb) in the major axis and 20 kn (4,480 lb) in the minor axis. Sure, the unrated quick links are probably good enough, since a whipper can generate between 2 - 5 kn (448 lbf - 1120 lbf). However, Kong Quicklinks are inexpensive enough so that you won't have too much regret if you have to leave one behind, and it's just a nice courtesy to the next climber. I don't get a warm fuzzy by seeing unrated quick links in anchor systems, and I have to ask myself, "Is my life worth a couple extra bucks for a rated, UIAA certified quick link?" If the answer is yes, then spend the extra couple bucks for the peace of mind and security of a rated, UIAA certified quick link!
