I was very pleasantly surprised. It works as well, if not better, than any other manual solder sucker I’ve used. It comes with two replacement tubes that can be cut to size. The tubes can gum up if you use a lot of flux but that is to be expected.I ordered some additional tubes from a different vendor. It was a pack of twenty for a few bucks, so I should be set for a long time. I’ve also heard some buy tubing from an aquarium store and used it with success. There has been mention of the stem breaking when depressed. It feels very solid, but I think I can see where it might snap in time with heavy use. But again, it feels very solid and I’ve been using it often with no issues. I’ve had great experiences using this in conjunction with a soldering iron as well as a hot air soldering station. The suction is great, and the unit feels well built. In my humble opinion, it seems every bit as good as the Engineer brand. The body is metal and seems very durable and substantial without being too heavy. I would buy this again in the future and recommend it to friends.I have had great luck with KOTTO products so far. I ordered one of the square desktop versions of their fume extractor and I was also pleasantly surprised. It is very effective for what it is and is very well built.KOTTO, so far, is a brand that I have come to respect. Hopefully that continues.About the rating:I gave it a five-star review because I couldn’t really find a reason to deduct any. It’s solid and does exactly what a solder sucker should do. If you’re having issues, you might just need a bit of practice. No shame in that. Thanks for your time,LLAP

I've been using this for recapping game systems and it's truly fantastic! It's a solid, relatively heavy device (in a good way), it feels good in my hand and works perfectly!A lot of people mention the advantage of the silicone tip being resistant to high heat (which is very true). Another great advantage is its flexibility - I've found it easier to approach solder joints from the side and be able to bend the tip over them to still have perfect seals. It's far more comfortable and efficient than having to approach head on with the stiffer nylon tips.I've used this to desolder around 80 capacitors thus far and it has proven to be very solid / well built, powerful and easy to use. As mentioned in some other reviews, the solder does build up in the silicone tip occasionally, however I haven't found it excessively troublesome (it's easy enough to pull the tip off and shove my tweezers through it). It's definitely made my hobby easier!!

Excellent construction, easy to reset, but one has to be super fast to pull out the solder iron and get this onto the the molten solder and sucked off before it hardens. This is easy to do if there is a lot of solder to remove, hard if the solder is a small amount that can cool quickly. you need one hand to hold the circuit boar, one hand to hold the solder iron, and a third hand to run this device. Save time and hassle, buy the heated tip solder sucker, one hand to hold the device, and one hand to run the heated tip solder sucker, much less hassle. This is good value for a lentil size pile of solder to suck up and only need to do it once in a long while, where it is easy to add a pile more solder to retain the heat long enough to suck it all up with this device.

the "after 2 years of usage" update is at bottom 😀you will find many others that look similar from the outside, but i found out the hard way that the knock off fake ones costing about $10 less are lacking important contoured and beveled surfaces inside, and very rapidly fail... w toith the Kotto one it'll hopefully last for years... hard to say given the harsh life these things are put throughUPDATE: it's still working nearly perfect after 2 years of usage. every now and then the plunger can be a little slower to pop out and harder to push down, and blasting out solder fragments with a compressor solves it temporarily. i would advise against using direct cleaning methods such as IPA unless you have an appropriate lubricant to re-apply or it will likely no longer be usableeither way, the issue is something that can be solved in minutes of you have proper lubricant and the build quality has held up long past expectations 👍

After trying a few different manual plunger style solder suckers, I was about to give up and go for the much more expensive and cumbersome desoldering tool. This was the last plunger style I tried, and it turned out to be perfect. I use it almost daily and with proper care it works smooth everytime, the rubber tip is perfect for getting a good seal on the solder even at tough angles. Highly recommend.

It does the job as described. The main deciding factor is if you want something that looks premium and doesn't care about money then this is a great option. If you don't care and just want something to get the job done, look somewhere else.

The silicone tube helps to get greater suction, to remove solder. A well built piece of kit.

The tool is extremely well made, that is where the good bit ends. To use it is pretty useless. I fix pcb's for my job, to clear a solder bridge is OK to use, To clear a hole of solder it is pretty dam useless. There is a cheaper much better option to use
