About this item

  • Fitment: Fit for 1990-2015 NA/NB/NC Mazda Miata 5 Speed Manual Transmission; for 2006-2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata 5 Speed Manual Transmission.
  • Direct replacement: Replaces the old weak plastic bushing, it's best to clean out any old fluid and gunk, and refill the turret while you're at it, for super smooth shifting.
  • Perfect Fit: This component is precisely sized and provides a smooth, crisp transition between gears. It made the miata short shifter feel better than the OEM.
  • Highly effective: Brass shifter bushing made the shifting more precise and firm and not as much play as the plastic bushing.
  • Package List: 1 x Brass Shifter Bushing.

If your shifter needs any new boots or bushings, it's best to replace them all.
This unit is a high performance upgrade that will replace the weak factory plastic piece. Our kit is a mix of OEM Mazda and Aftermarket pieces, keep the cost much lower than the full OEM rebuild kit from your local dealership.
Note: Will not fit Cobalt Short Shifter 994-000
Before ordering, Please check the product pictures carefully to understand the appearance of the product, and check the OE Number and compliance !

The dimensions of this brass shifter bushing (18 mm outer diameter, 15 mm inner diameter, 16 mm height) make it slot perfectly into the shifter turret of my 5-speed manual transmission.Nothing "squeezes" into place - the bushing slides into the turret easily, and then the "ball" on the end of the shifter slides into the bearing easily. There is just enough clearance. This brass bushing replaced my *shattered* plastic OEM bushing... Thankfully, the transmission doesn't seem affected by the plastic bits that I could not find and tweeze out of the turret. Shifting feels much better - less play and flex as I change gears.Note: Be careful and take your time with dropping/sliding the bushing into place in the receptacle in the turret. I do not know if you'll be able to easily fish the bushing out of the turret if it falls into the wrong place... I used a chopstick and placed one end into the receptacle, and used that to help guide the bushing into the receptacle by sliding it over and down the chopstick.

does not fit 94-97 miata 5 speed. way too lose, makes shifting gears feel looser. if a particular gear has a bad synchro, then having a loose shifter bushing will make it harder to shift. leave the plastic in there, and keep a spare in the glovebox or find a more reputable brass bushing.

Very tight fit had to sand it down even to fit and once fitted it was still much too tight resulting in hard shifting

Fitment for 2007 NC Miata 5speed in the turret and end of the shifter ball is snug and exact size as plastic OEM piece. Brass shifter bushing made the shifting more precise and firm and not as much play as the plastic OEM bushing. Shifting between gears is a little notchy compared to the OEM plastic bushing, but that is expected for metal to metal contact. Great value part and made the miata short shifter feel better than the OEM.

For hard driving and autox when your really rough on the car its nice to know that the plastic cup wont crack and fail on you this also stiffens up everything in the shifter. including vibrations which is the only negative. after 3 months

Tested the shift it shifted good for 5 gears but did not go into reverse for some reason put the old bearing on and it went into reverse fine im not sure but didn’t work for the reverse :( it fits kind of loose on the shifter and was a little taller compared to my old brass bearing but yes oem shifter also.

After install this brass bushing, you cannot shift into reverse, and the shifter will not bounce back into neutral.

el material es de buena calidad, se ajusto bien a la palanca pero el problema esta en que es mas grande que el buje original, al momento de usar la palanca te quedas sin reversa de lo cual tuve que cortarlo a medida del original y asi si funciono
