The tradition of string making dates back to the 1640s in Salle, Italy, where the Mari family supplied gut strings to the famous violin builders of Cremona. In 1913, brothers Olinto & Emilio Mari arrived in New York bringing their family craft to the States. Everything is great with these except the high E string keeps breaking before it ever reaches tuning pitch. The other string are fine but this must be a defective string.

As with any flamenco guitar, it takes time to find the best strings for your instrument, and I have tried many from the original Savarez flamenco strings. I wanted to go to a medium tension and these were a good choice, though I am still trying other makers - but well worth a trial on your own guitar

These have a great feel, especially for picado. Like most nylon bass strings though, they lose their vibrant sound pretty quick.
