I tested it against my other window tint meter and as you can see, it is pretty accurate. However, it does have an up to 2.5% variance on factory tinted glass without aftermarket tint over top of it. I bought this window tint meter originally to obtain infrared and ultraviolet percentages. This is going to help me decide which window tint brand, UV/IR rejection, and percentage to have installed on my wife’s new car. This window tint meter is only designed for rollup roll down windows. You can also test just the window tint film before installation.

This is a great overall meter for measuring the effectiveness of window tint for car windows. It comes with a velvet textured carrying bag. It takes 4 AAA batteries, so I really appreciate that I can just pop batteries in and go (vs. a built in rechargeable battery that has a finite lifespan), but it does seem to report a Low Battery icon (purely cosmetic) with fully charged rechargeable batteries. It's simple and easy to use; just turn it on, check that it is calibrated to 100 (VL), 0 (UV), 0 (IR) and you're ready to go. You get 3 readings; do note that the Visible Light (VL) reading is transmission and the other two are rejection so reversed. For me, using this on our cars where we paid for more expensive UV rejection (we had the demo with the heat lamp and everything) it turns out the difference between premium and standard window film was going from 82% net rejection to 95% (and not 0 to 100% as they'd try to sell you on) so only a modest improvement for the price premium. One major nit is that you can only measure windows you can fit in the built in slot (which could benefit from softer materials and not hard plastic). So you can only measure windows that roll down (so the side windows). I wish this meter had a more two-part detachable design so you can measure the windshield or rear window.

This is a very handy product. It clearly shows the percentage of visible light, and the reflection rates of ultraviolet light and infrared light! Very easy to use, just make sure you clean your window before using it.

I lost the directions that came with the device. I tried it on my new 2024 Toyota Prius Prime. I couldn't seem to get it to work. Watching the videos provided by others showed the trick - turn the device on to let it calibrate, then slide it over the window glass you want to test. You can read the numbers. You can also press the button once to hold the readings. The device was a good investment for me - the side windows already block a decent amount of UV and some infrared, so I won't need window tint applied to the car.
