I just purchased this 18†model to replace the 18†model that finally stopped spinning (fix below). I found it on Amazon and hit the buy button. Later that day I thought I would disassemble the old fan to see why it had died after 7 years. Man o Man – the housing was full of dirt, cat hair, human hair, dust, dust bunnies, and whatever else was floating around in the air. I cleaned out what I could with a high-pressure air gun and tried running it again. Very slow spin. So, I decided to dismantle the motor (unplug the fan first). Once inside the metal housing I discovered more dirt and hair, so I removed that and then regreased the shaft. Put it back together, plugged it in, and ‘SHAZAM’!! .. works like brand new.To prevent this from happening again I attached a cheap paper filter COVID face mask to the back of the plastic housing with a rubber band (not an N95). That should keep just about everything out of the housing. I plan on checking the filter every few months and replacing as necessary. Prior to attaching the filter I removed the two inner layers of filter material to allow for more airflow to the motor. The blue exterior filter should provide enough protection, after all I’m not trying to filter germs or viruses, just the bigger stuff. You don’t want to choke off the air supply to the motor or it’ll burn up. I remember breathing through those masks was a bit restricting, so removing the two inner layers should open things up for your fan motor. Here’s how to fix your fan. This should work for most of you, however if prior to disassembly you smell burnt anything, chances are your motor is toast.Taking the fan apart is not rocket science. Unplug the fan. Remove the metal front guard. Remove the plastic nut holding the fan blade (clockwise). Pull the one-piece plastic fan blades off the shaft. Remove the plastic nut holding the rear plastic fan guard (counterclockwise). Remove the plastic motor cover by removing the two front screws and the single back screw with a Philips head screwdriver. Now disconnect the plastic oscillating arm by removing the Philips head screw. With your Phillips head screwdriver remove the 4 screws holding the body together. You should be able to pull the housing apart now. Clean it out and regrease (silicone grease) the shaft where it mates to the support bearings at the front and back. DO NOT GREASE THE ENTIRE SHAFT – it’s a dirt magnet. Put the metal housing back together with the 4 screws and try spinning the shaft. It should turn without binding or grinding.Remember how it came apart? Reverse the process to put it back together.I’m keeping the old fan in my office, and the new fan that I just purchased is going into the garage. With the filters they should both run worry free for many years to come.PROS:Assemble in 5 to 10 minutes out of the box – no tools required Made in USA Powerful but listed as using only 71 watts Should last a long timeCONS: Very loud on highest setting Mostly plastic construction

So Lasko changed their products where before I would get the $50 fan that had metal grate cover, and 5 blades, however, now it's all plastic, and that's what led me to finding the next up which is this one. The metal grate cover is easier to clean and also makes it quieter as I use this fan daily and at night time when sleeping. Power 1 setting is powerful enough and 2 is what I use at night. Rarely do I ever need 3 or 4 setting speed as it's very powerful. The $50 one only had 3 speeds where as this one has 4, and also comes with remote for those who like to use remote.

Do you need a LOUD fan? One that blows cold air?? Look no further. Btw before you continue reading this is not a paid review. Just a real one.I bought this fan 8-9 years ago and it FINALLY gave out on me a few nights ago. I need a LOUD fan that drowns out everything at night. This fan puts me right to sleep. It has 4 settings and 5 blades. I’ve tried 2 fans in the last few days that didn’t even come close to this fan. I was really shocked after all these years to see that the same fan was still available. Tonight was the first night to use the fan (after the old one died on me) and it did not disappoint. Same ol fan I bought 9 years again. The cons? When you pick it up it practically falls apart (but it’s ok because my fan doesn’t move). You can’t put money on a good nights sleep. Buy the fan, seriously! It’ll drown out all the voices in your head and put you right to sleep 😜

This is a fan. There many like it but this is the most balance in performance and price.(in my opinion.)Speed 1 is semi quiet with gentle breeze and speed 4 make the hottest sweaty person, cool to the touch.Nice round strudy base unlike the leg based one. It can be as short as 3ft to up above bed height. The back forth motion, i do not care. This thing has 1 job and that is to keep the bed area cool and breezy. It easy to put together, my issue was clipping the back and front plate. The remote need 2 AAA and feel like smooth cheap plastic. It has 2 big buttons. What more fo you need?

I bought this fan brand new just wanting to have a better fan in my room and THIS FANS AMAZING, all bought this one I purchased I got one completely different fan from the one in the picture and I also got it really disgusting and dirty there was a lot of dust and it seemed like someone smoked around it, triedit before I cleaned it out and it still didn't work made me sad as I love loud and powerful fans. Was not worth the amount I bought it for the remote showed signs of life but didn't fully have control over the fan because it was broken so the remote control tried... Very easy to assemble. And doesn't look like it would work anytime soon

I use this large oscillating fan to blow out the hot air from my garage at the end of each day. It gets very hot in AZ so I crack open my garage doors so the heat doesn’t cause my auxiliary refrig to run more than necessary. This fan is quiet and can be tipped up to really move the hot air buildup. Love it!
