RF Explorer Application

Wireless Network Analysis RF testing

Wireless Network Analysis

The RF Explorer can be used to analyze Wi-Fi networks, discover signal strength, channel congestion, and interference sources. This is beneficial for improving Wi-Fi performance in congested areas or diagnosing connectivity difficulties.

Electronic Interference RF Emission Compliance Testing

RF Emission Compliance Testing

The RF Explorer can be used for basic RF emission compliance testing to ensure that electronic devices comply with regulatory standards for electromagnetic interference (EMI). This is particularly relevant for manufacturers or developers of electronic products.

Cell Tower Transmitters RF Spectrum Monitoring

RF Spectrum Monitoring

RF Explorer devices can be used for general RF spectrum monitoring, allowing you to detect and analyze various signals in the environment. This is valuable for identifying unauthorized transmissions, detecting interference, or monitoring for potential security threats.

Holder

This custom-made, high-quality holder is an ideal addition to your RF Explorer SLIM model, offering both protection and pleasant viewing angles at the workplace.

near field antenna kit ref explorer

Near Field Antenna Kit

The RF Explorer Near Field Antenna Kit consists of four high-performance antennas suited for the most demanding RF diagnosis tasks:

RFEAH-25: H-Loop magnetic 25mm diameter RFEAH-15: H-Loop magnetic 15mm diameter RFEAH-5: H-Loop magnetic 5mm diameter RFEAE-10: E-Field stub 10mm length

power limiter

Power Limiter

All RF Explorer devices have input signal power ranges that might cause damage. Most models have a limit of +5dBm, while some can handle up to +10dBm, but only the WSUB3G (as well as the RF SMA connection on the right side of a 3G Combo) is protected up to +30dBm.

I'm using this for RF coordination in live production environments. My current workflow is using Wireless Microphone Analyzer (free and open source) to export a .CSV into Wireless Workbench 7. So far that's worked great. What's less than ideal is figuring out what software you need.Essentially you'll need to use two pieces of software for live sound work- one to get the scan from the RFExplorer, and another to do the frequency coordination with your selected wireless systems. Contrary to what the website for this says, there are plenty of software options for Macs running M1 and Catalina or newer. I'd recommend trying out the free options before paying for one of the paid offerings, as at least for my usecases I haven't found a need to purchase one of the paid versions (yet, maybe that will change).

I actually purchased this for a job related project.Initially we were looking at much higher end / "professional" tools. The problem was that we would only be using it a few times a year and we primarily needed it to check RF output level and frequency verification. Trying to get a professional tool that would have cost thousands of dollars for this would have been hard to get pushed through the purchasing department and honestly - for our use - would have been overkill. In the end, I found this product online and discovered it met our requirements. This included the ability to save output to a computer via (free though basic) software. The only downside is that the professional tool(s) would have allowed us to do a single sweep and get all the data we needed. With this item we do have to narrow the frequency range / set our target frequencies each time. So it does take maybe 2 or 3 times longer to use but at a tenth (or less) the price - I have no complaints. That is especially true since changing the frequency range and re-scanning takes less than a minute. So again - it is more of a hobbyist tool but I found that for our situation it worked and no complaints. I have even taken it home to test my wifi signals and responses from BT beacons etc. In the end it allowed me to find and eliminate wifi / signal dead spots around the house.

There is a little bit of a learning curve to this but once you learn where the buttons are, it's pretty simple to use. I bought the one with a carry case. It goes from 50hz to 2.4Ghz. There are 2 antennas in the kit and 2 SMA connectors on the top. One is for 50hz to 999mHz while the other is for 1 Ghz to 2.4 Ghz. It basically has 2 receivers inside. The LCD display is minimal but enough to do the job. Its not a bad piece of gear. For the price, don't expect Rohde & Schwarz levels of ability. It's a cool piece of gear that will get most jobs done.I also carry the Tiny SA and the Tiny SA Ultra. Each of these pieces of gear have some functionality that is missing from the others.

Very accurate with a smaller span, can be off with a larger span. You have to buy a license for additional features.

Hace lo mismo que el antiguo, pero pesa el triple. Mi mochila de técnico ya pesa lo suyo sin ello. Lo devolví y compré el modelo viejo.
