It's even better than my Sangean WFR-32 which is much larger. The Sangean is great but I can't get the spoken word to sound the way it should. It always seems somewhat muddled. The LC90 sounds so much better to my ears. The Internet radio database could use improvement and the radio interface needs improvement but the radio's firmware can be updated over the Internet. I've done it once so far and it was quick and easy. The Bluetooth works well and I use it to listen to podcasts from my phone. The battery life is excellent, also. The company has promised more improvements via Internet updadtes so I'm looking forward to that. Please Choyong, don't do anything to degrade the wonderful quality of your sound.01-12-2025: Just a quick update. The V 4.7 update is available and fixes many of the things I didn't like. The voice search was so bad it made Apple's Siri look good has now been fixed and is excellent. Many new search categories have been added. You've got to love a radio that just gets better and better. It's easy to search for podcasts. Just say "Joe Rogan" and they'll pop up. Newest first. They added RDS to FM which shows up nicely on the high quality screen.

Pros:+ 1st compact portable internet all bands radio on the market+ extremely long battery life, hearing 2 – 3 days for one charge+ includes all the possible functions, you can only dream about+ it has perfect balance between sensitivity and selectivity on all bands+ Choyong is releasing easy to install software updates on regular basis+ radio can get very loud with really nice and clear sound without distortion+ affordable price for this of all in one package with no competition on the marketCons:- no kick stand, it’s problem when you want to see display from different, than direct angle- no RF gain control, what causes, that radio can get overloaded, when SW signals are strong- problematically chosen bandwidths, complicated hearing strong stations close to each other- lack of tone control, the sound have best quality either on internet radio, or well-tuned stations

I encountered subpar AM/FM performance, plus all kinds of streaming issues that required me to upgrade to a newer version of the radio. In other words, tack on some more money and time wasted trying to get the blasted thing to work. Sure, the unit offers a plethora of internet options, but the trick is to actually find them, and I'm not really keen on DXing for internet stations.

I had high hopes about this radio, and read/watched a lot of reviews. However, it came loaded with Firmware V4.2 (the latest is V4.6). I tried doing an over the air update, and while the radio did connect with it's server, I got "Verify Failure" every time it downloaded. I then saw a video that said only V4.4 or higher is able to do OTA updates, so I tried the direct uptake method, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the radio to connect to my PC. Another problem was "voice search" - I got "network error" on every attempt.On the positive side, the radio has 1000's of internet radio stations available from all over the world which are not too difficult to load. The sound is good, and the controls work well.I hope that the promised LC 100 will be available soon, and hopefully will have firmware that can be upgraded without the problems I have had.

My primary reason to buy this radio were the reviews regarding the internet radio stations and it is outstanding in that capacity. I have not yet tried the shortwave aspects but will. Directions are sorely missing as to how to get going but with the help of all the owners you will figure it out. It took awhile to figure out how to open your favorites list, Open previous played and then double click the favorites (heart) button twice to open. In exploring music stations I found that Dubai had 200 stations, many jazz related.. It is very unusual to find a ration that gets updates expanding it’s operations, Bravo

The physical design and build quality are outstanding, as is the sound quality. Keep in mind while this is not the ultimate DX machine, it’s like the Grundigs of the 80s and 90s, perfect for program listening without fatigue. It comes with pair of replaceable 18650 rechargeable batteries already installed. Just charge and go. I’m glad I decided to purchase it.
