I have used about half of the container of swabs to test for lead on a variety of thing. We confirmed a number of antiques have lead paint. I tested some beer steins I suspected of lead lids, and these swabs were off the charts crimson. I also tested some cabinets, and some must have been relatively modern as they registered as less bright but still confirmed some lead. Simple, quick, effective.

I had painted pyrex that was handed down to me from my grandmother- I soon came across an article about how vintage painted pyrex often has lead in the paint. Unfortunately/ fortunately this test came back VERY positive when I tested it on the paint. I tested it on other materials to make sure it wasn't a false positive, it was correct. I am glad that it detected the lead, but saddened that I will not be using the pyrex. I now have it in a display case that IS NOT opened ever. even if you are not buying this product for painted pyrex testing, please look up if any of your "vintage" items may contain lead, it is extremely important- Especially for young children!

I bought these to test a few services to ensure my little one wasn’t crawling around on lead since we have an older home. Every surface I touched had lead, which obviously made me completely insane. I called a professional to come and do a full lead test and they found only one area actually had lead in it so I feel these tests. Don’t actually work accurately. $700 spent for the lead guy to come and although that part did give me peace of mind, I feel it was an unnecessary step to take.

It’s really easy to use, but the accuracy all depends on how careful you are. As soon as you take the q-tip out, immediately put it in water and then immediately place it on the object. If you set it down, the results could be tainted. The color is easy to identify.

Exterior paint contains lead as expected, at least if test kit is accurate. Cutting up old wood siding for disposal will have to be done with proper precautions.

It was very easy to use and very easy to understand when something contained lead and it takes no time to figure out if it does or not. 10/10

I had a few woks that I was questioning the materials it was made from. I did test the swabs on some lead slugs and they turned up positive. So I guess they work : )

Purchased these to test barn doors for my family room. Test strips were easy to use and guide was accurate.
