This little lighted dry-erase board makes a handy family message board and younger kids will enjoy drawing in light. The LEDs ensure that the drawings or writing glow brightly.The panel is clear plastic that is initially protected from scratches with easily-removed films. The box includes a foldable support to prop up the panel. The LEDs are hidden along the edge behind a narrow bezel, and they are powered through a roughly 3-foot cable with a USB-A connector. No charger (power supply) is included. The little guide sheet says the power should be 5V at 1A - standard USB phone charger fare.The set comes with 7 small dry-erase markers in various colors, though there was no red in the set I received. The pens are small, so they won't last too long. The caps on some of the pens were quite tight, making it hard for small children to remove or replace them. The kit includes a pair of thin 4" square microfiber cloths to wipe the ink off of the panel. They easily wipe the board clean, at least with the provided pens and a scratch-free surface.The guide sheet refers to the device as the Charmy Mood Lamp Board. There are no markings on the product box. There are no safety testing or certification lab icons on the packaging, product, or guide sheet, but the 5V supply makes the board inherently pretty safe.Bottom line: it's simple, fun, and attention-getting. What more could you want, other than perhaps longer-lived pens?

I'll start with the positive. First, my 10 yr. old absolutely loved this, the finished artwork glowed like magic and was bright and colorful. It's a very cool effect that makes your child's artwork look really really unique.-Now for the negatives. The board is FEATHER light and the base is extremely light as well, the slightest touch and the board will come off the base. It just sits on the base, nothing attaches it. Even the pull created by the bends in the stiff electrical cord are enough to pull it off the base. This leads to the second drawback, the cord is not that long and very stiff, to display this safely it would need to be sitting next to the outlet, or you'll need an extension cord that will reach up to the base so that absolutely no pull is on the cord. The last drawback is the smudging. You have to wear gloves to use or clean this, throw away the included cleaning cloth and get a big dry erase board eraser or a microfiber cloth. The way the board is made, there is no way to clean it while holding it still without creating more smudges, hence the gloves. The plastic is very difficult to clean, I had to scrub the marker and the smudges for my daughter and it still wasn't that clean. And, as getting a kid to wear gloves to play with something isn't really a reasonable request, my overall thoughts on this one are that it's cool, but has too many functionality issues to render it very useful other than for a unique gift that will be interesting for a bit, then shelved. The base needs to be weighted, the board needs to attach to the base, and the cord needs to be more flexible.

My camera cannot capture the brilliant glow of this lit-up board; it is lovely. The only issue is that it will highlight finger prints and lint as well, so I had to use glass cleaner to remove my finger prints from the screen after handling. When there's a will, there's a way, and this is so lovely that I'm thinking of a way. I will use gloves of some sort to write with. It's worth it, because this is really cool. The dimensions of the board are 7.5 inches by 12 inches. The electrical cord, which needs a USB block to plug into the wall, is 3 feet long. The board comes with markers shown in the picture posted. I wrote on the board with those markers plus a window crayon as well. The red word "Christmas" in the picture posted is written with window crayon that I have for the grandkids here. This set didn't come with a red marker. The markers wipe off the board real well. The unit only turns on and off by plugging it into the wall and unplugging. I highly recommend this lovely light-up board.Update: the grandkids arrived and drew scenes on the note board, handled the board with ungloved hands, and their lit scenes looked great. We don't even notice if there are finger prints because we're looking at their scene. Right now as of this writing, I'd have to walk over there, plug it in, and look for finger prints, for they honestly don't stand out. The boys think this board is great.
