I installed them easily, but the would not lock into place. While driving the tailgate would pop open and fall down. I would not buy this Item.

It's very nicely I used penetrating oil on the existing bolts and let it soak overnight. The red plastic clips were an upside down which was no issue

I bought these for my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 because the tailgate stopped working (won't stay closed). They fit OK, and were easy to install after watching a video, but the plastic clips for the rod ends were on up-side-down (maybe it's just an oddity of my model), so I had to remove and reinsert them. Also, I think it's weird that the new parts use two different sized bolts (8mm and 10mm) bolts to replace the factory 13mm bolts (I'm talking head size. They threaded in just fine). To top it off, replacing these did not seem to solve my problem. I can get the tailgate to latch now, but only barely, and it can be pulled open again almost effortlessly. Not really sure what is up with that. I'm back to square one, but I don't know for sure if that is the fault of the part, or if there is something else that needs replaced.

The product seemed easy to install. It would have been except the retainer pins were installed backwards. It took more time than needed to remove and reset the pins.

I replaced my old ones on a 2000 silverado with these ones , took a bout 15 minutes for both and they fit and worked great. I had to use my original plastic retainers though but perfect otherwise
