My friend had these patterns from a book she borrowed. I thought they were so cute that I purchased a book of my own, so I could write and cut them if needed, and started making some blocks. They were so fun that I actually made an entire quilt of 24 blocks!As you can see, you may either be as simple or detailed as you want, and there are so many designs! I mixed and matched several.I used fabric paint and ribbon scraps to embellish the designs.The leaf and flower borders of the blocks are my own design and those patterns are not in the book.LOVE IT!

I’m a quilt designer but still love some of the traditional patterns. I’m fixing to make this as a throw quilt for my great-neice who has Autism. She is 5 and loves her stuffed animals and dolls. I feel this will sooth her at bedtime and use it to cover her babies. This is a very simple appliqué pattern that can be made in a multitude of prints. I like to starch all of my fabrics to make them easier to handle and sew. I’m going to let her pick out which fabrics she wants on each little sunbonnet “Aliceâ€. Then we will add animals or toys that she wants to see in them. She loves to makeup stories when she plays and tell them to each baby. And she can take it whenever she goes.
