The ring is secured around your lens and can be attached to a tripod or monopod via the 1/4"-20 tripod socket on the bottom. It can provide greater stability and balance when working with the heavy tele lens and shooting at the top of your tripod or monopod. Made of premium ABS material, this Tripod Mount Ring is sturdy and durable. The silicone pad on the inside also can protect your lens from unwanted scratches. JJC TR-1II replaces Canon A-2 and AII (WII) Tripod Mount Ring.

The most things to know about this product are: a). It is almost identical to the Canon product and it fits the Canon EF 70-200mm lens perfectly and b). This collar is a fraction of the cost of the Canon collar for almost the same exact thing. This collar works fine and it is important when you are investing $1000+ in a lens to not have it tip over when on the tripod. I typically only use Canon on Canon products, however, it seemed silly to spend over $125 more for an same for the same quality item.

Order arrived in good condition and in just a couple days. The tripod ring looks very good and would probably work well. However the lens hood is not for the 70-200 f4. All the photos on amazon show a 70-200 f2.8 but I thought I would take a chance. If you have a 2.8 then this would probably be awesome for you. I am still giving 4 stars because the product itself should work great.

I wish that Amazon would measure the products and publish the dimensions so that I don't have to guess if an item will fit or not. I took a chance on this fitting my Cannon lens which is 70MM in diameter. This mount is only 65MM in diameter.

This is made of plastic instead of metal but for the great price I think it more than exceeds expectations.

I needed a lens mount for some events I'll be shooting. I needed to be able to switch from portrait to landscape quickly. It is pretty stable and steady and doesn't switch position that easily so I used a piece of paper towel and cut it out to the width of the ring and then tightened it up and now I can easily swivel from portrait to landscape. But the product is good. Works fine

I bought this tripod collar for an adapted slide projector lens, not the 70-200mm f/4, because I saw it had a 65mm diameter which was the right size for my project (after a tiny bit of foam tape to make things tight). For my purposes it works fine, since the projector lens was pretty cheap. Despite the substantial weight of the adapted lens, the collar does hold it, but there's definitely some flex going on. I'm not sure I'd want to put an L lens like the 70-200 f/4 on something made out of plastic like this, personally.

This worked well and does not have any sections that ruin the lens like some of the other mounts. Fits snug on the listed lenses. It's a plastic build. You can feel a flex if you apply enough pressure but it is still a solid collar. Do not over tighten.
