How to Use Our Bat System
Clean the Wheel Head
Ensure that the surface of the wheel head is clear of any dried clay, as this can result in an irregular surface and cause the bat to wobble.
Placing the Outer Bat
We designed our bat to fit tightly on the bat pins (included in the package). However, if you need to enlarge the holes, you can easily do so with a small nail file or sandpaper.
Using the Bat System
To use the Bat System, lift the inner bats from the insert tab on the outer bat using your fingers or a flat potter's tool. The outer bat has drilled holes and easily slips on and off your pottery wheel pins. It works with standard wheel heads that have pin holes spaced 10 inches apart.
Storing the Bat
Whenever possible, store your bats in a flat position. Avoid soaking or leaving water pooled on top of them. If you notice that your bat has become warped or cupped, you can fix it by placing it on a flat surface and putting a heavy weight on top.
Turn with the Wheel Head
The bat fits tightly on the bat pins, it works with standard wheel heads that have pin holes spaced 10 inches apart.
Dry or Color the Pottery
Set of Six 7” Square Inner Bats allow you to dry six pieces of pottery at the same time, which can save your precious space and time.
Easy to Lift
Lift the inner bats from the insert tab on the outer bat using your fingers or a flat potter's tool.

I ordered these because of the price. I needed a cheaper bat system to share with my pottery students. I expected it to warp and degrade quickly. Months later, they are as good as day 1! They outlasted a much more expensive version! The set also includes bat pins and a cushion to stabilize it while throwing! I highly recommend!!!

Very happy with this. So convenient and the square bats take up less space than my round ones. Also, the clay sticks better on these than on the plastic bats. I plan to buy more of the square inserts.

I've been using this Bat System for a few months now. It comes with everything pictured and everything is very well made. The bat fits my studio's wheels perfectly and the batmate eliminates any wobbling. The extra pins are great to have on hand and work well, but I haven't HAD to use them often (did test them though). The six inserts are enough for me to spend a day in the studio throwing and not run out of them. They dry well in my bag and I've had no warping so far. It's all easy to use and clean and has made throwing a breeze - no more getting up for new bats! I really like this system. The only thing to note: Getting the inserts out can be a bit hard, but any thin tool can help get under the insert and pop it out. That said, that's just par for the course with bat systems, so it's just something you get used to.Overall, this is a great bat system that works very well and is well made. I'm very happy with this system and thrilled to add it to my pottery supplies!

I an hopeful that this bat will last longer than it looks, but it is made of particle board and I am unsure. The main bat is thick and sturdy, flat and not warped. This set comes with 6 sq inserts that are 7â€, so that you can take your pot off the bat with the insert, and not disturb the bat to be able to move on quickly. The best part of this set is the batmate mat which can be used to correct bat jitter if it becomes warped or isn’t level for any reason. You can also use the batmate mat for trimming bowls and plates. I also love that this set comes with the screws needed for your wheel, not everyone has those already! This set would have been 5 stars if it had been made of solid wood or something sturdy and not particle board. Still a good price for what it is.

Got this setup for my in home pottery wheel and it's really good. I've used them a number of times and I really like how the six pieces allow you to work on a bunch of turned pieces at a time without having to remove. The tabs are really helpful for removal. Overall very happy with what I received and will use them for a long time.

When I received this I was concerned about how loose the inserts were, but when I went to use it I had no problems. When I pull the clay up there was no feel of the insert lifting at all. I did find that when I wired off the piece but left it to firm up on the insert, I had to wire off again to remove the piece as it was stuck on. Not sure if I left it to fully dry wether the piece would pop off on its own.
