This exceeded my expectations. Been playing drums for over 14 years and this is a quality drum for a budget drummer,beginner or even a professional. Right out the box it sounds decent but after putting on a professional drum head it is a beauty. I would highly recommend this drum to any drummer looking for a new sound or even a snare under 100 dollars. Edit have had the snare for a while now some minor issues that were easily fixed recommend replacing rims and snare wire hardware still highly recommend just may need to be replaced with pro hardware.

This is a solid drum. I wouldn't normally buy a drum like this but needed something in a pinch. I tightened up the heads and this thing snapped. Great sound. Really. With new heads and fine tuning it's worth it

My 12 year old grandson is in middle school now, and he joined band where he is a percussionist. He loves playing the snare drum, so I got him his own drum for Christmas! He was very surprised with this gift, he loves it, and plays his drum every day!

I purchased this just to take off and use the hardware on a snare drum that I was building.The throw off isn't the greatest of design: It reaches the tightest point before gets to the locked position. In the locked position, the snare strap is a little loose. There isn't an adjustment point where the snare strap would be at the right tension.For what I needed, it is a cheap alternative to buying brand name parts. But everybody that has tried out the snare drum has complained about the throw off design.Somebody had actually tried to stuff something at the lever to stop the travel before the snare strap loosens. This only helped a little.
