Works on both standard and electronic ignition systems. Easy to use. Simply adjust calibration screw to proper gap size. Attach spark plug wire to end of tester. Clamp tester on engine to ground. Crank engine and check for spark.

This tester works as advertised. The gap is adjustable, and the spark (or no spark) is easily visible. I’ve been an auto mechanic for over 25 years and trust this tool to help me get the job done right. I lost my original one, so I had to order another ASAP.

It does as it is intended to do, it measures spark output... We got to use this right after giving it to my Dad at christmas.... My car wouldn't start again there was no spark....boom one ignition coil later we are back in business.... :)

This is great to have in your automotive diagnostic kit. Great quality, easy to use and won’t break the bank. I have similar items but this has become my go to.

Bought a few of these but dislike if you open the clamp more then 3/8†to 1/2†it will fall apart as the 2 vet small tabs lock in the clips at 1 end and then it’s tuff to transfer cry to get the spring to hold back into position.Clamping on thin metal fin or shroud on motor you should be fine. I do like the adjustable spark gap so you can check the engines intensity of volts to the plug.

Used for "Cranks, No start" GM 4.3 blazer. No spark troubleshooting on coil and spark plug wires. Works great.

Not worth the money. Screw in post is not retained once the proper gap is adjusted. Post also in not retained to be perpendicular to the base, so there's no guarantee that what you are testing is the gap that you wanted. Clamp is right on the piece, so if you don't have plentiful spark plug wire length, it becomes complicated to find a close ground that isn't the battery post. Bought this to test the spark on my motorcycle. Shocked myself a couple of times, it is an extremely simple tool, but was not constructed/designed to make any part of it easy to use/fool proof. Will test my spark the old fashioned way from now on.

Great for testing coil energy on my project car, with standalone ECU. Was able to clearly see how dwell times affect spark energy.
