Many parts in my shop must be hand tapped as the CNC's spindle cannot fully extend into certain crevices and areas of the parts we manufacture. I put this socket on the tap, add an extension I made (1/2" square 4140) and use a tap handle. Otherwise, using a pulley tap, or an extended tap handle would be necessary. These methods allow flex and do not allow a good feel and promote tap breakage. These sockets with an appropriate extension work great. They feel solid and they don't slip like a standard socket may. I haven't used them extensively so I can't comment on durability or quality--but so far they've been getting the job done.My coworker used a smaller set I purchased from the same brand with a ratchet to speed up a production job and he raved about how well they worked and what a good buy they were. If the tolerance is tight (which is generally the case on parts that I work on) I will not use a ratchet as I want to apply pressure evenly on both sides while cutting the threads.Wrapping up, these sockets are great. However they are used, with a tap handle or a ratchet, they will do the job that they are meant for. This applies to both Lisle 71670 and 70500. Both have done the job so far.

Great value for what you get. I hesitated getting these years ago but needed it. Still made in USA holds on to the tabs well and adapts to ratchets.

Great Item, I like to use a rachet to thread large taps, It is easier than a T-Handle

Purchased to use on one tap. 22 mm. Worked fine.

I think these used to be made better. The area under where the tap enters and the ratchet attaches looks very thin and incomplete. If you put a flashlight behind it, there are spots where you can see through. I'm surprised they pass Quality Control, but since you don't put a lot of force on a tap as the tap could snap, they will probably work fine.

Seems like the tools function will not be compromised by the defects but for the price I expected better quality

Why are these sockets so deep? The tap only sticks out about 1/2 inch after it is inserted into the socket.

Running larger taps 2 sockets split where the ratchet goes in.

This set is ideal for allowing you to run up a thread tap in and out with ease.

The sockets hold the taps securely. The holder for the sockets needs work, but I didn't buy they for the holder.
