I got this for a pole lathe. I works great. It spins freely and is perfectly balanced. It's a huge improvement over the old nail I had been using.

So far this has been a great improvement over the tail stock live center that came with my lathe. Bearing spin very freely! Only been used 10 or so times but so far so good! Update: changing my original 5 star to 3. Product works but the plate that screws on and surrounds the bar unscrews during use. I tightened it as much as possible and still came loose, decided to put some locktite on it and will see how that works.

This live center works great for turning wood and other softer materials. The bearing is exceptionally smooth, allowing for steady, precise rotation. The points are sharp and well-machined, making it a reliable tool for the lathe. A solid choice—I recommend it!

A good live center is key for many turning tasks... I had one recently that kept wanting to come apart on me so went to my backup and decided it would be good to have another on hand. This may become my primary... Spins nice and smooth on the bearing and fits well for our pen turning bushings. If you're new to turning between centers... this is the one you want for your tail stock... It will fit any TBC (turning between center) bushings that you might use. Beats the heck out of turning on a mandrel!

Review of the crown-headed MT2 live center.I got this for my 1958 Shopsmith. It fits perfectly in the Morse Taper 2 receiving adapter on the tailstock. The live center bearing functions well. It's a great addition to my lathe configuration. I have a point-tipped live center that I've been using for almost 20 years that replaced the dead center that came with the original Shopsmith. I didn't even know a crown-tipped live center existed until I saw this one. I've had instances where I've wanted a firmer grip on the tailstock side of a turning. So this is perfect for that task.

I chose the 1/2 inch diameter center for turning smaller pieces as I only had larger crown centers. This has evenly cut teeth and gives more support so less likely to cause a split when working smaller diameter stock. Nicely made, like my Robert Sorby lathe (grin) and good to have in the quiver. Recommended.
