About this item

  • YOUR GO-TO DUTCH OVEN: A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit. The Lodge Dutch Oven not only makes your kitchen look good but is an enameled cast iron classic great for preparing and serving memorable meals. Broil, braise, bake or roast your favorite meals in the oven up to 500 Degree F.
  • WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON? It is glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
  • EASY TO COOK AND CLEAN: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization and resists staining. Although enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to keep your Dutch Oven in tip top shape!
  • HEAT RETENTION: The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating throughout both the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture for scrumptious pot roast, stews or a large batch of beans. Our heat retention also reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.
  • FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; it’s a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. Products made with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE free material.

This 4.5-Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Stainless steel lid knob is oven safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. Made in China.

Works very well for one pot meals or sauces, and also for baking bread. Caramelizes onions very nicely, too. I had the 7.5QT version of this first and use it extensively, but this smaller one is really good for simmering large batches of sauce, refried beans, curry dishes, or baking a normal sized loaf of bread. Great design and craftsmanship, easy to clean, retains heat, and is just generally an excellent piece of cookware.

This pot is almost identical to Le Creuset which would cost you over $200. It cooks beautifully, cleans beautifully and looks beautiful. I highly recommend this pot. I have not had any issues with scratches or chips and am careful to handle it as recommended. I only wish it was completely made in the USA. But at this price, it's a bargain and great value for an excellent cooking vessel.

I've had this Dutch oven less than a month and already I've cooked several dishes with it. All have been fabulous. Now, I'm wondering how I've done without a pot like this all of my life? This Lodge 4.5 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid and Dual Handles is professional grade and just the right size for our needs (there are only two of us in our household). I brown* my ingredients with it on the stovetop in prep for braising while the oven preheats to 310 degrees F. Then I bring the braise up to a boil, put on the Dutch oven lid, and slide it into the preheated oven. The pot simmers perfectly for hours at a time or however long I need it to with only a check after a half hour to see how the simmer level is doing. And Voila! the results are astounding. We love the color of our Dutch oven too (solid red) so much that we display it on our dining room table when it's not on the stove. I can't see how any of the fancy (and expensive) French brands can perform any better than this beautiful, American made, Lodge pot does.*Note: For sautéing ingredients, I use a different skillet so not to damage the enamel finish. The pot is only to be heated to temperatures under 500˚ F; therefore high-temperature sautéing is likely to damage the pot's enamel glaze. I also hand wash my Dutch oven immediately after using it. So far this has worked great in keeping its appearance, inside and out, beautiful.

Happy with this. It does chip so be careful. The handle on top can get quite hot if at the top of the oven. Be careful. It makes our sourdough loaves and is easy to clean. Have not used it for anything but bread. Happy with the value and purchase and I would not hesitate to purchase again from this manufacture.

I had old Copco enamel Dutch Ovens (I inherited them from my mom, and she probably bought them in the 1960s!) I noticed some chipping and knew it was time to start replacing them. After much research, I felt comfortable ordering the Lodge Dutch oven because there is no exposed cast iron parts, no need to "season" it, and it cleans easily. This enamelware is absolutely lovely, it is true to the picture. It is easy to clean and includes an information pamphlet that really explains the features, use and care of it.Needless to say, this is great quality for far less than other brands!!!

It’s a lodge. Really don’t need to say anymore, it’s the best brand I’ve ever purchased for cast-iron. Heavy good size perfect for soups, stews or other one pot meals.

Why pay all the extra for Le cruiset when these are as good as they are? Love it.

Mucho más económica que la marca esa francesa y no le pide nada. Es buenísima, resistente, bonita. Ideal para hornear panes.
