This has been said to be a "go-to" wok and there is some truth about that, with an understanding that there are practical differences between the cooking usages of carbon steel and cast iron woks. The exterior, outside of this wok has a typical wok shape along with a circular, raised flat-bottomed section of about 6 inches in diameter, good to work on many different sources of cooking heat.It is the interior, inside shape of this wok which shows its versatility. The upper interior walls of this wok have the usual sloped wok shape but the bottom section of the interior is where Lodge got it right, having a slightly dished shape, not quite flat, and a slight, downward dimple in its center.Considering its price point, Lodge could easily sell this wok to Asians.

I’ve been eating stirfry for years. My cousin made a stirfry in this spot and it was the best stirfry I ever got. It gets really hot really fast and works great a little bit heavy but all cast-iron is heavy. Definitely worth buying your food. Will never taste better.

My son was so excited with this wok. He loves it. He said the food has not stuck inside. Very easy to clean

I wish I knew about this cast iron wok a lot sooner. We wasted money on another wok that just ended up falling apart and the coating inside the pan started coming off. If you looking for a healthy wok where no coating is coming off into your food I would highly suggest this wok. My husband is in love with this wok too and he's been making some great dinners out of it. Plus we plan on buying another one for a gift because we love it that much!

I'd never used a cast iron wok but I love cooking in cast iron skillets. I've almost completely phased out my weird science nonstick cookware with who knows what fluorinated organic chemistry. I'm accustomed to stir frying by shaking the pan to flip the veggies and that is not happening with a 12 pound cast iron wok. It took some time to get happy with that but in practice it's not a problem, it's just different. I also am accustomed to cutting up most of the veggies, putting the heat to the pan, then cutting up an onion to start cooking, but the cast iron wok has so much thermal mass that I put it on high heat with oil in the wok, spend five minutes chopping all of the veggies, and the wok is ready to cook when all of the veggies are chopped. Again, not bad, just different. All of that thermal mass does come in handy when adding cool veggies because the wok doesn't cool down.I cook on a conventional electric burner range. The base of this wok fits the small burner and it supplies sufficient heat, but I wish I could get the heat from the large burner into the same area in the center of the wok for the gas burner "Portal To Hades" wok cooking experience. The wok does come from Lodge with an initial seasoning, but it'll become much more nonstick after 10-20 uses. The instruction tag does mention that you should continue the seasoning process by stir frying several batches of veggies. Until then, cooking tofu, eggs and maybe meats will probably result in some sticking. I look forward to my new cast iron wok being as seasoned as the 1930s era cast iron skillet that I inherited from my grandmother. I love how cast iron cookware is nonstick without the weird nasty chemicals, allows me to use durable stainless steel utensils, and is so durable that your great great grandchildren can still be using it. That's value, and it keeps a lot of junk out of landfills.

Heavy and good for stir frying. I also seasoned it with sesame oil to make it last longer and prevent rusting.

I am returning to Lodge Cast Iron cookware after a 5 year hiatus after using Le Creuset and Staub. While these French enameled coated cast iron dishes are excellent, they are also very expensive. I also have to be careful with it, using only wooden spatulas and spoons so as to not damage the enamel coating.Lodge makes heavier grade cast iron cookware and they are manufactured in the USA. This wok is extremely well made with high grade thick cast iron. It comes pre seasoned which is really nice. This has a capacity of 7.25 quart, which is really great.I put it to work on an induction cooking surface to make stir fried salt and pepper chicken with vegetables.Unlike enameled cookware this cast iron wok can be used at much higher temperatures, which is perfect for stir fry.The salt and pepper stir fried chicken worked out great.Clean up is simple. Wash with hot water, scrub the wok clean, rinse with water and then dry. I finally coated both the inside and outside with a thin layer of oil. This high quality lodge cast iron wok is built to last a life time with proper maintenance. Highly recommended and at a bargain price for a locally manufactured high quality cookware!

Pesado lo que acumula calor para sancochar vegetales como se debe. El arroz frito chino queda excelente. Asegúrese de lavarlo. Sacarlo y curarlo inmediatamente.

OMG. I cannot explain how happy this Lodge cast iron Wok makes me! I saw this and instantly wanted it, but I was a bit worried about it coming all the way from the USA. So I told myself I could find one in the UK that was just as good. Over the next couple of weeks, I ordered 2 different ones, and was never happy with the finish, or the size. They both got returned and I just caved in and bought this beast. Best thing I ever did. It works perfectly on my induction hob and it's a beautiful piece to add to my growing Lodge cast iron collection. And it will last me the rest of my days. You really do get what you pay for with cast iron. It is on the heavy side, but I wouldn't be without it.

Never have I had a wok made of Cast Iron. Tip: One way to get your wife to cook what you like is to buy her new cookware. e.g. Want homemade pizzas? Buy a Lodge cast iron pizza pan. I DID, and had sourdough pizzas on back 2 back days... hehe!

Positive- It can be used on induction or gas hob cookers. I like the even heating around the wok during cooking.Negative - It has a roughness inside the wok which I find it a bit annoying which creates the rough scratching noise while stirring the dishes inside the wok. It is a heavy wok.
