Some folks complaining about comfort have a good point. These can be harder to breathe through because they have a single in and out vent. Some of the ones with two vents (one for in and one for out) work better but overall, an N95 is never going to be "easy" to breath through unless you get a half or full face version with much larger area to pull in air. That said here are a few tricks to make it more comfortable:1. If it is too loose, add a knot in the elastic about a half inch from the end. That will tighten them right up.2. If you're getting chaffing, a little lotion is ok, just don't ruin the mask integrity.3. These filter out a lot of contaminants but are NOT for vapor or gasses. Carbon monoxide etc will get right through it. Use appropriately.4. Make sure you only use these once and for no more than ~6-8 hours per day. They get saturated and can no longer protect you as effectively.5. A good fit means you are only breathing in air through the filter and out through the filter, you should not be getting air around on your cheeks or around your chin, no leaks! Pull it tighter if needed, otherwise why bother wearing an N95?I use mine for dusty environments where I know what the dust is, like saw dust and brake dust. N95 are NOT rated for asbestos or lead. Keep that in mind.

I loved these masks! I worked all day amidst dust and didn't experience any respiratory issues. They also fit easily behind the ears and stay in place while you work.

I have asthma, and I work in textiles, with lots of lint flying around. Great combination.I had a lot of problems with this mask *in the beginning.* (I have the type with the yellow elastic, apparently the newer and probably not better than the previous type)The mask hurt the bridge of my nose. I've broken it twice (faceplant) and it didn't heal quite right. I clipped the edge of the mask in different places, hoping it would help; nope, made it worse.I finally put both elastics in front of my ears and put the clip up high on my head. Voila! No more bridge of nose ache. Still makes a good seal on my face.I should also mention that this mask has plenty of nose room. My problem was the bridge of my nose.My chin itched at the joint's edge. So I flexed it a bit (not stretched), and it helped. The edges around the mask can be itchy. Flex them a bit, loosen them up. It fluffs them, too, probably making a better seal. If that doesn't help, trim absolutely as little as possible off the edges, just enough to remove the machine's cut.And once I put it on, I run a finger all the way around under the mask edge. It seems to help make a better seal, flattening everything out.I take off the mask for lunch. Lint accumulates around the edges where the mask hits the skin. If I just put it back on, I inhale little clumps. So I take a damp paper towel (NOT wet) and flick the towel repeatedly all the way around the edge of the mask to remove loose dust. Then I flip the towel to a fresh side and wipe off my face: everything that was under the mask, especially around the edges of the mask, always wiping downward, the way facial hair grows. Then I blow my nose, what I thought was the final trick. But....Sometimes, putting the mask back on, I *still* had nose tickle from dust. So now, I put my lips on the inside of the vent and blow out. For some reason, this stopped the tickles entirely.Every time I remove the mask, such as to talk to someone for a moment, I have to go through this rigamarole. I may walk about without the mask for a minute or two, but never put it back on without a thorough dusting. Fortunately, management is understanding, which can't be said for a lot of jobs.I learned from videos here that when fitting the nose wire, use two hands, one on each side. Don't pinch with one hand. It really does make a difference.I wear a mask for 8 hours a day. I've been wearing one of these a week, and saving a few of them for short term chores at home, like cleaning street dust out of windowsills, or digging under the bed where it's very very dusty.Any mask is going to be annoying. The trick is finding one that's the least annoying. Same with earplugs, another necessity on my job. (I highly recommend the yellow 3M Classic E-A-R)These are individually wrapped, so I can leave a few at work and they won't get dusty.I've learned that one can buy separate nose foam pieces to add to any mask. I've ordered some, hopefully make these masks even better for both dust and nose comfort.I've looked at all the strap-not-ear-loop vented masks here on Amazon, looking to see if there's something better. Yet with my big honker and big round head, none of the others look like they'll like my nose, and if the reviews say several times that the mask elastic is too tight, they sure would be for me.I don't notice any horrid smell; there is a soft smell but I suspect it's the smell of the elastic, having been a sewist for mumblety mumble years. In any case, the smell seems to dissipate rapidly. The elastic is a good size for me. If it's too big, tie a knot. I tie knots at work and can tie a loop knot without a loop to take up some length. Or one could cut the elastic and tie a knot as close to the ends as possible.Anyhow, I liked them well enough to order them again, so I guess that's it.

I've tried several masks, and am one of the few people who have avoided COVID so far, despite being a lot more social than the one other person I know who has avoided it. My intention with this mask was to have something with an exhaust valve, that I could wear during high-intensity indoor sports. Since I'm more careful than average, and no one else is masking, it didn't seem like an ethical issue to have an exhaust valve mask. However, my primary intention of reducing moisture inside the mask has not been met; they are about equivalent to the 3M Aura (the version without an exhaust valve). The Aura is a bit weirder looking, takes longer to don (put on), but is overall more comfortable (the foam and mask in general is less scratchy). And the Aura's are less than half the price. So while I am grateful there are other options, and ones which appear to have thick, presumably good quality filtration material (given its N95 certification), I can't recommend these; the Aura is simply superior.

I am disappointed to have purchased this item. Not only is it too tight on the face, the straps do not adjust as it states. In fact, when I tried to adjust the straps of the mask, it broke, once at home when I did a test run, and then another time when I wore it for work today. I proceeded to try one more time, with another mask, but the same problem occured. Please do NOT spend your money on these masks. They are not worth the money due to that faulty problem, but also they are very tight and uncomfortable. On to the next mask now I guess...
