Steps of the valve cover gaskets replacement
- Step 1: Try to tighten the gasket
- Step 2: Allow the engine to cool and gain access to the gasket
- Step 3: Lift off the valve cover
- Step 4: Remove the old valve cover gasket and fit the new one
- Step 5: Apply silicone if the manufacturer tells you do so
- Step 6: Re-install the valve cover

The upper intake gaskets fit well and worked well. I ended up with a massive vacuum leak that I figured out was coming from the lower intake gasket.( plenum gasket). I had to pull the entire intake back out. The brass threaded inserts on the lower intake bottomed out ion the upper intake before the gasket made contact, leaving a gap of about 1/16â€. The engine would not even run unless you held the throttle halfway down and begin throwing mass airflow and map sensor codes. All explained by the massive vacuum leak which I found by smoke testing. I should have caught it before I put it all together. That’s on me. Just make sure you check if you are replacing the Plenum gasket.
